Saturdays practice was red flagged after 3 laps. It was the only practice of the day and I have never seen the track before. I am in the first race of the day. I take off and am not sure which way the track goes. The bike continues to have problems but I manage to get 5th in Gt Lights. The bike got progressively worse in the next two races to the point it would not run anymore. I was not able to finish ether race . I was passing for third the first time the bikes motor quit in turn one. The motor stopped in thunder bike twice and it was not safe for me and other riders to be on the track. On the flipside Randy cooked a great dinner that night. It was a blast to see Dave , Randy , Tim , and Jeremy on the track. Saturday night after much BBQ and Beer we walked the track and watched fireworks. I would say it was a great day at the track just not a great day of racing. Note to Self Leaded Race Gas will kill a o2 sensor Big thanks to Walt Sipp for all the advice! |

Observations from the peanut gallery. (Or, A pit crew view of the races at MAM) Note to anyone attempting to use comms with your racer at MAM: there are a LOT of people passing by on the hwy using frs frequencies. It is nearly impossible to find an empty channel. You get to hear these people voice uneducated opinions about racing motorcycles for a LONG time while you are attempting to relay (basically pit board) info to your racer on the front straight. Also, if you intend to camp there be aware the trains also pass by fairly frequently at night and they LOVE those horns! Another point of interest, there is no power available at the track. Get used to the sound of generators running, and you'd better hope you have one if you have tire warmers. They (MAM) need to stop steamrolling the gravel into the track surface. Hint..buy or hire a street sweeper to run first. I understand the intent, smoothing the track for the bikes after the cars tear it up. They end up making a talcum powder like substance on the surface of the track that is slicker than snot. Be aware of this if you go up there. Last but not least, MAM has very limited access for spectators, especially gimps like me. They still have a lot of room for improvement |

Brian, don't use Leaded Race Fuel in your fuel injected Buell...it gives it bad gas It really cool to hear and see another Bueller here racing. Keep it on two and have fun man. If your are going to be at a track in Vegas, Phoenix or Tuscan, and maybe even western New Mexico post in the it so us locals can coem out and support you. |

Thanks, We had been using VP-U4 and were lead to believe (pun intended) that it would not cause issues with the o2 sensor. Live and learn I guess. |

>>>>anyone attempting to use comms with your racer at MAM: there are a LOT of people passing by on the hwy using frs frequencies FRS are jammed like CB used to be. Next choice would be GMRS (General Mobile Radio Service). For TEAM ELVES we used commercial itinerent repeater pairs, something like 464.xxx and 469.xxx. Another thing you can do is go 4W on board and either 25w or 40 in the pits. I have a 100W UHF in my car and can hit the TEAM ELVES repeater though NYC from 65 miles north of town. More is better.

I did a 1:44 but again the bikes was on about 50 percent power and stopping. 600cc jap bikes would be flying at 1:38 that day. I understand the times to be down about 2 seconds from the normal. Michael |

I will agree that the track was very slick. I hadn't been there since '03 and it was nothing like I remember. It used to be smooth and have plenty of grip. Not any more. I only got down to a high 1:38 in Sunday's race; and that was with new tires. I was hoping for a .36. Good to see you guys out there. |

I was wondering for comparison. I have run 1:43-1:45s there on a XB9R in 03. I'd love to go back there and run it again sometime. |
