I puzzled for a long time which pipe to put on my Buell right now. I had the race pipe, then I bought a Jardine from DAVES (will eventually have my stock pipe made into a Drummer when I return stateside). For the longest, the loudest thing on the bike was the fan! I was downright embarrassed when someone wanted to hear it run..."please crank it up!"

Last weekend I decided to go with the race pipe instead of the Jardine for the sanity of my neighbors. Anyway, it finally sounds a bit like a Harley and a Sportster with hot cams. In less than a week I am getting comments about it sounds good...can finally hear you coming!

So, if you don't want to go the full monty on engine mods, but want more sound, try the race pipe. Not extreme, but makes the Buell sound better than a sewing machine with the stock can. Plus, I like the dual outlets on the race pipe...and the color matches my frame. No, not a D&D or a Drummer, but it fits a nice nitch for me right now and might fill a similar nitch for some of the other folks out there.

But hey, I may be wanting a new Buell when I get back Stateside if the 2006 models are tempting enough!

Another 2 cents...Cyko Bob

I agree, XB's need a little more sound than stock to give them bite and match the looks. I had the race pipe but then went to the D&D for more. I had a guy ask me the other night what kind of cams I had in my bike and it took me by surprise cause it's stock except for the ecm, intake and muffler.

I really like the sound of the Race Pipe. Not too loud, but nice and meaty. I like the grumbling you get on downshifts too. : )
Overall I think the performance of the race kit is pretty good. It cured the 3k rpm drop and then it is pretty steady and smooth until about 4800rpm where it really takes off.
For $150 more than some pipes I think it is a pretty killer bang for the buck 3 piece kit.

I'm not sure but I'm assuming that D&D only has one style for the buell, I just called up to appleton, the first time I didn't talk to Daves(sorry), but I had a niece of a friend of a friend working up there. I would definitely say that it is attention grabbing, basically like straight pipes on a sporty. You may not want to put it on if you're trying go low key. I really liked the racing pipe, it has a great sound, I just needed more.
