Will my Buell race kit from my 03 XB9S work on the new 05 City X? Thinking of trading in my 03 and getting a City X. |

I believe the pipe will work but I think the ECM is different for '05. I'm not positive. |

The ecm is definitely different for the 05. |

They put the wrong ECM in my 9sx at the dealer, so I was running it for a few hundred miles with the 03 race ECM. It ran fine. When I got the correct ECM put in, it actually felt like it lost just a little power up top, but gained in the midrange. YMMV. I don't know what the long term repercussions for the engine are. |

I think they just cleaned up a few bug on the 05 ecm. I doubt there are any repercussion as far as long term, possibly minor if any. plugs etc. For me as a rule 1st generation of anything doesnt' run as well as 2nd or 3rd gen simply because 1st gen is the test pig. |

I have no proof, this is just a guess but I think the new ecm (stock & race) for the 05 was because of the new one piece throttle body. It's the only possibility that makes sense to me. I'd love for someone "in the know" to explain the change. |
