No Formula Extreme at Laguna Seca? Probably old news that's already been posted here, (I searched and couldn't find it) but the schedule I just saw at http://www.roadracingworld.com/news/article/?article=23236 didn't list any Formula Extreme race for the weekend, but had supercarts instead. WTF is up with that?? I know the weekend is tight schedule wise, but why supercarts but no Formula Extreme? Al |

Really Al,thought you'd been in on that discussion!Since Wayne Rainey joined up with SCRAMP he's helped talk them into putting the bridge in the middle of the most famous turn in North America AND talked them into running his SuperKarts instead of Formula Extreme....... A real pisser and if I didn't like and respect Wayne I would be MAD!!!Fortunately my friend here at work pitted for him and has assured me next year WILL be different....? But YYAAHHOOOOO on the Aprilia!!!I've been thinking of tossing the Honda XR for the Aprilia 450 to keep my Tuono happy....we'll see! |

Al, Formula Xtreme has been a disaster this year from the moment it was announced that FX would be the Daytona 200. From the moment that MotoGP was coming to Laguna for sure, the support classes weren't on the schedule. I'm still upset about the bridge in the middle of the corkscrew. They should have put in a tunnel like Sears Point ( I mean Infineon) did. The only thing I can figure out is that it is a big billboard for Yamaha right in front of the cameras. Jim |

Laguna: Saturday & Sunday Tickets SOLD OUT! by staff Friday, July 01, 2005 This just in from Laguna Seca Raceway: SATURDAY & SUNDAY TICKETS SOLD OUT FOR RED BULL U.S. GRAND PRIX Friday Tickets Still Available Monterey, Calif. (July 1, 2005) - Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca officials announced today that tickets for Saturday, July 9 and Sunday, July 10 of the Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix are no longer available for purchase through the Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca ticket office. A limited number of general admission tickets will be available for sale at the official 2005 Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix ticket outlets while their supplies last. Approximately 53,900 tickets have been sold to spectators for each of the weekend days. General Admission tickets are still available for the Friday, July 8 practice day, the first opportunity for two-wheeled fans to see the MotoGP World Championship in its first appearance in the United States since 1994. Defending champion Valentino Rossi, his Yamaha teammate Colin Edwards and the rest of the MotoGP World Championship competitors will be on-track on Friday from 10 a.m.-12 p.m. and 2 p.m.-3 p.m. for practice sessions. The sold-out days include Saturday's AMA Superbike Championship race and Sunday's much-anticipated MotoGP World Championship race. "With almost 150,000 people expected to be here, next week's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix will be the largest event in the 49-year history of Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca," said Gill Campbell, CEO/general manager of the historic track. "The combination of MotoGP, Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca and the Monterey Peninsula has proven irresistible. Our phones have barely stopped ringing since we announced the event last August." Only once before has a sellout been announced at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca. That was the 1998 Rolex Monterey Historic Automobile Races with Porsche as the event's featured marque. That announcement was not made, however, until after a large walk-up crowd on Sunday of the event. Next weekend's Red Bull U.S. Grand Prix marks the first time a sellout announcement has been made prior to the event weekend in the 49-year history of the world-renowned circuit. Hey, I probably WAS in that discussion. I feel like I'm Dori (from Finding Nemo) these days, I can't remember what I did a week ago, let alone months. It kinda rings a bell now that I think about it. Still sucks. Karts? phooey, I'm sure they're fun, but I'm going to a MOTORCYCLE race, dammit! (Message edited by al_lighton on July 02, 2005) |

Al: You should have been at Sears Point last week. Prior to the Taxi Cab race (NEXTEL) they had a 30 minute side car race. You should have seen all of the NASCAR "Good Ol" Boys" making fun of them "Funny bikes" (not a chrome Harley in the bunch) with the "Monkey" hanging off the side. Really was a "hoot" Enjoy Laguna Tom (Message edited by Hotrodsportster on July 02, 2005) |

I'm not so sure he means following the mouse cursor... Court, are you doing something like a flier and you need text on that or do you mean on a web page and the text is attached to the cursor? (Message edited by m1combat on July 03, 2005) |

Court - NEEDED: Software that will allow... Are you describing columns of text that need to adjust themselves as images are inserted and the text is edited? The free office suite OpenOffice will do that kind of thing: http://download.openoffice.org/1.1.4/index.html That does documents, presentations, spreadsheets, database, html, etc., etc. I have never found a document from any major big bucks office suite that OpenOffice will not open, use, and save as one of many different formats. That software has put a big dent in the wholesale larceny perpetuated by the M$ Office suite's never ending series of "upgrades" with limited backwards compatibility. Jack |

i've been curious about buells for a while now, and can't make up my mind. i have a 1200 sportster (sort of) and a vstrom but my dad just wrecked my sportster so i'm thinking of getting another bike, but i'm trying to rationalize it. why doesn't buell still make the thunderbolt? that would work great as a commuter i think. i can't decide if i should go w/ a blast bc it's cheap or maybe try to find an old cyclone or thunderbolt... i was thinking perhaps a blast might be too short for me. any thoughts or suggestions? |

Decker, A test ride will answer most of your questions. Filling in at least one or two of the following in your profile will help others help you find a test ride. Welcome aboard.

why doesn't buell still make the thunderbolt? They do, its now called the Lighting and comes in 2 flavors, XB9 or XB12, tho admittedly the 9 flavor is itself available in 2 flavors, 9s and 9SX or City/Suburban Cross. Mine commutes excpetionally well at a round trip of 120miles per day...when I am not all banged up. |

Decker, If you go for an older tube frame, the 2002 M2 or S3 will serve you well. By the last two years for the M2, they were well sorted out. Someone will help me out here but I don't remember the last year of production for the S3. It too was well sorted at the end of production. Only real "necessary" modification was the Race ECM to fix the power dip in the mid range. The new fuel frames are great bikes. I really dug the City-X (9SX) when I test drove it. My favorite is my S2..... Brad |
