Thinking of putting S Headlights and Screen on my 05 12R. Anyone have these parts for sale or trade? Anyone done this? |

I could have sworn I typed out a response to this question but I can't find it at all. The problem is with the placement of the ECM,Fuse Boxes, Bank angle sensor and the rest of the wireing. It just simply won't fit behind the standard "S" front end pieces. You would need to fabricate a large enough area to put all of the components, but that in turn would add ALOT of weight to the steering. In an R none of that weight is attached to the forks or triples, on an S that is exactly what they are attached to. What you might want to do, is find someone who is willing to trade their S wireing harness for your R harness so that they could in turn do just the opposite, and place an R fairing on the front of their S. IF I were in a better position health wise, that is a trade I would be more then happy to do, but I myself am being forced to go back to the stock S setup on the front. |

On a S the ECM is under the seat correct? Where are the fuse boxes and bank angle sensor located? Is there anything located behind the standard "S" pieces? |

under seat view of S Behind the stock S windscreen is the ignition switch assembly, the lighting bracket, the horn and the wiring harness for the gauges, lights, and horn. And that is pretty much it. |

Yeah, you have typed this before. You have answered one of my posts on Sporttwin also. Thanks for all your help. I was hoping I could make this work without having to rewire and relocate. Looks like I need to decide how bad I want this conversion. |

I have already done the R Rear Conversion on my S, and have been considering the FULL fairing. I might be interested. Is your stuff in good shape? what color. I have already put cross roads bars on my bike, so I'm trying to figure out where I put the ignition?????? http://www.tsmithbuellxb9slr.com/ |

Man, T, I'm still up in the air. I really like the look of the front on an S, but I'm not too excited about having to relocate all my . As far as your ignition problem, you have a ton of room behind the R fairing. Here's a pic just to let you know how she sits right now. |

Tim there isn't enough room to run the crossroads with the full fairing, you just use the stock firebolt triple or go with the Heli-bars or LSL Superbike bar conversion and run the stock firebolt ignition switch. Essentially the 2 of you would trade wireharnesses, top triple, front end pieces (S for R) gas cap, and seat lock and keys and ignition swithces. |

All this sounds like more work than I want to do. I wish there was an aftermarket conversion kit that keeps everything located up front on my R. |

Tattd, That bad boy is sharp the way it is. Good luck if you pursue the conversion. Bill |

Thanks X. I just can't leave well enough alone. Although, the more I look at that pic, the more I'm thinking I might just leave the front right know and start on performance upgrades. |

i think it might be interesting to take off the R front fairing, and just have the magnesium fairing support and headlights . tattdbueller...if you want my S rear end for your R rear, i will trade you. i already added the R front to my S...i still want the R tail section |

I agree with Xring. That is a sharp looking bike. I'd keep it as it is & find a used (i.e. affordable) 9S or 12S & swap the S rear for an R rear. Much easier conversion (just ask Tsmith4378) Then you'd have the R rear/S front look that you like (I like that look too) and you'd also have a baddass 12R. |

Thanks. I have decided to keep it the way it is and go ahead and start on performance upgrades. I've been looking at some others with a R rear and S front and don't like it as much as I thought I did. Next on the list is exhaust. This bike needs some sound baaaddddd? |
