Like to a bad accident my eyes were drawn to this debacle and I had to tear them away from this scripted and formulaic piece of tv crap. Anyone else have an opinion? |

Watching it now, and so far I'm lost. There is no story line. It also seems a bit like they make all this crap up, for a story. It's weak. |

Spped TV is falling farther and farther away from the sport bike crowd. They didn't provide same-day coverage of the WSB races, and now Two Wheel Tuesday has been decimated to infomercial status and only a half hour long. Time for another true SpeedVision channel to emerge so they can rebadge the current SpeedTV with a more appropriate title; "NASCAR TV" would seem to fit the bill. I do enjoy watching the "Build or Bust" shows once in a while. Just wish they would build a sport bike based street-fighter once instead of a cruiser. |

I got an idea -- let's script a reality TV show based on Badweb during the political/religious debate period . . . that would put the wannabe bad boyzz from OCC and Murican Hot Rod on the trailer for sure! "Bomber, you ignorant, pink leftie!" "Oh, yeah? So's yer ol man!" deathless prose -- great TV potential! |

I gotta agree, pretty lame show after 10 minutes I shut it off and went and cleaned the pool. Build or bust is about the only show about motorcycle bulders I will watch. I ageree with Blake, speed has gone to crap. Two wheel tuesday isn't very good anymore. Ride On and American Thunder are o.k., but too much cruiser and poser stuff. I'm not really into watching Nascar on TV. |

I didn't bother to waste my time on this. The 'teasers' told me more than I wanted to know. From what I see on other boards, this show seemed to peg the Lame-O-meter big time. Agree about Speed. Can't show same day delayed coverage of WSBK, but they can show an endless array of NASCRAP shows (NASCAR Poker Tournament, NASCAR Nation, NASCAR Lawn and Garden, NASCAR Dog Show, ad nauseum). But whoever proposed this stinker should be shown the door..... My reaction. |

Yeah... Speed vision was GOOD. I stopped by speed channel dot com the other day and the poll was about wanting to see more NASCAR coverage... I answered yes in the hopes that they will just make a NASCAR channel and run the other forms of racing on their own channel. That would be the best solution if you ask me... "F1! screw those jackasses, and their bullshit attitudes." Same to you . |

M1, did ya see the US Grand Prix? Politics politics politics, no racing, no compromise, tons of pissed off fans, and the end of F1 in America and the end of any network giving serious coverage to F1. Yeah, I'm pissed at them, the whole sorry lot. |

I did . What I saw was Michelin coming to the table with 13.7% of the tire they needed. The FIA did the right thing. They offered safe and effective alternatives to running T13 at speed. The Michelin runners and Michelin themselves refused to accept the suggestions on the grounds that it wouldn't slow the Bridgestone teams and "level the playing field". Leveling the playing field is not the job of Bernie, Max or anyone else involved. Winning is. F1 is NOT about the fans like NASCAR is. In NASCAR, if one team or manufacturer has an advantage NASCAR chops off their legs (like they did to Ford a couple years ago) in an effort to keep the racing close. If F1 followed the same lines they would penalize Ferrari, McLaren, Renault, Williams, Toyota, BAR, Sauber, Red-Bull and Jordan so that Minardi could compete. That's not what F1 is about and I'm glad for that. F1 is an acquired taste... It's not a sport for the fans. The fans just happen to either like or dislike it. That's the end of their involvement. Only a small chunk of the money that is generated by ticket sales and TV coverage actually goes to each team. Michelin jumped into the ten foot side of the pool before they realized that there was only 16.4" of water. The problem is... Michelin KNEW that there was only 16.4" of water... They have run that track only ONE less time than Bridgestone. They had ALL of the same data that Bridgestone had (even more seems how they have seven teams and Bridgestone only has three) but they FORGOT. Michelin screwed the pooch. Not the FIA. Not the drivers. Not Ferrari/Jordan/Minardi. Not Bridgestone. MICHELIN recommended to their teams that unless a chicane was placed before T13 that they shouldn't race. That was wrong. The affected teams should have run the race in one of two ways... They should have run flat out through T13 and stopped every ten laps (Michelin claims they didn't have enough tires or rims for this, fine, supply the teams that you can that are the closest to the lead for the constructors championship). Or - They should have run through the pit lane EVERY lap, changing their rear left once (Charlie Whiting would have placed the SAME penalty on each team, therefor there would have been no penalty) They still could have raced against each other for the two remaining points paying positions (the third opened up because one of the cars on Bridgestone rubber DNF'd, but they coun't have known that at the race start). Instead, Michelin got a wild hair up their arse and told the teams to not run at all. They took their ball and went home. There is no compromise in F1. That's the way it should be. |

everyone's got an opinion, yes? I agree with M1 -- F! is not about hte fans, hasn't been since forever (or since Jackie Stewart ran, your choice) it's about technology, politics, and influence, not necessarily in that order -- if you think NASCAR on a short track is a parade, F1 is even more so, on many tracks -- these care are darned near able to reach escape velocity given enough room to run, and produce more power per wieght/cc than anything short of an NHRA dragster (which only runs for 5 seconds between re-builds) -- it's either boring as watching paint dry, or fanscinating as can be, with not much in the middle, I'm thinkin me, I stopped watching the races long ago (yawn), but follow the technical advances with a greedy and curious mind lastly, ya wanna see racing? go find your closest amateur track -- sportsman cars, scca, Wera, AMA, you name it -- far more racing per dollar/hour than most of the pros offer -- it'a a lot like baseball -- watch overwieght, overpaid primadonnas, pay $5 for a hot dog and $20 to park at your big league stadium, or watch ball players hustle at the minor league park (with great cheap eats and free-ish parking, I might add) cept, of course, Grand National (OK, I'm biased) -- greatest show for motorheads on the planet |

I'll bet dollars to doughnuts F-1 will be racing in the streets of Vegas, maybe as soon as next year. Indy, IMO, is NOT a good F-1 Track for the race OR the fans. |

But it's Indy . I think if F1 moves (the Indy contract is up this year...) it'll be to Vegas or Laguna. As most of us know, Laguna was just re-worked to add run-off area (THANK YOU SUZUKI!!!!). I don't know that it's enough for F1, but I hope it is . |

I don't want to be the one to tell the fans who took a week off work, bought plane tickets, paid for lodging and food, and paid for the expensive tickets, that it's not about the fans. If that's the case then they should open the gates for free, then at least they might "race" before a full house. |

I just like how fast f1 cars take corners speed up slow down and the hole nine, I don't even know any of the drivers names just like the tracks and ability of the cars. On the other hand if you want to see a good skillful race watch motocross that in its self is amazing, I used to race dirt bikes so I know how focused you have to be to jump 80 feet. Very competitive and the stamina these guys have to have to do 25 laps after they do the qualifier |

"I don't want to be the one to tell the fans who took a week off work, bought plane tickets, paid for lodging and food, and paid for the expensive tickets, that it's not about the fans." I have done exactly that on another board I frequent. That person agreed, and will probably attend next years event (if there is one). He understands F1. If you don't bring the equipment to run, you don't run. You forfiet the points and you walk away in shame. Michelin didn't bring enough tire. Michelin is required by contract to have a backup tire that is safe. They didn't. What's more... In private testing Michelin has been testing many different types of construction in order to make fast tires. Those tires have been failing AT OTHER TRACKS with startling regularity... Michelin fell off the rope. No one else. No one can tell me (even Michelin) that they can't/won't/haven't simulated T13 at Indy. That's bull pucky. They have run there before. They knew based on the tire loading they saw in previous years and how the new aero packaging restrictions affected the tires in previous races this year. I know that sounds like "blame storming" and it mostly is. The point though, is that an F1 race is just that... an F1 race. Six cars, twenty cars... Whatever... It's an F1 race. Michelin is responsible for letting down the fans. Michelin should be responsible for making it right. They won't. Not because they believe they are in the right, but because they know that they already have SEVEN of the current ten teams. Nine of those teams are very interested in starting their own series that WILL be the pinnacle of motorsport. If you ask me... they'll start the GPWC and Michelin will have a fine playground there. The FIA knows this, Michelin knows this, the teams know this. This is just the start of a very bloody battle between the teams and the FIA. The teams are in the wrong in this case, but only by proxy. Both Max (and the other 26 people on the world council) and Bernie are playing it straight. If the teams want to play cut throat they will, and it'll be the end of "F1" and they WILL win... This isn't new in F1. Maybe some of you will remember the FISA wars of the early eighties? Pretty much the same thing. It's not the end of the pinnacle of motorsport... It's the beginning of an intereting era in the soap opera side of F1. VERY interesting if you ask me . |

OK.. I was brave, I was steadfast.. I kept an empty stomach.. I watched the Texas thingy all the way through.. GOD THAT WAS BAD.. Yes, it was scripted, yes it was badly acted and badly thought out.. On the positive though.. the cat was really good at it's part and will probably end up being the actual star of the show.. Ok, I'm done.. I've seen all the episodes I think I'll ever be able to stand.. Hope Mr. Farelss (sp?) isn't counting on it doing for him what 'Amurcan flopper' did for OCC.. |

M1, Michelin ofered to put different tires on but under the new rules in F1 this year you must run with the tires you qualified on. No changes are allowed. Its the dumbest rule I have ever heard of in racing. It will probably be changed next year back to the old way, maybe even slicks will be back. I don't know what the heck F1 was thinking when they went to these new tire rules this year!! |

"Michelin ofered to put different tires on but under the new rules in F1 this year you must run with the tires you qualified on. No changes are allowed." That's not the case... Michelin flew in a plane load of tires but realized that they were constructed using the same methods and couldn't guarantee their safety any more than the originals that they brought. It was suggested by the FIA that they run tires for ten laps, then change them due to "safety" reasons. This is allowed by the rules. If Michelin had brought tires that were suitable and changed to them, they would have been assessed a penalty that was drastic enough to discourage the tire manufacturers from using a qualifying tire and then swapping to a race tire. To summarize... Yeah, Michelin brought in more tires, but they would have failed the same way. Charlie Whiting told them they could indeed use them, but they would be penalized (rightly so IMO). He also told them they could swap tires every ten laps and all of the Michelin teams would be penalized the same (therefor, no penalty to the Michelin runners). Michelin hadn't brought enough rims or tires to do the changing every ten laps thing, so they didn't do it. Michelin suggested one solution and IN THEIR OWN WORDS they suggested the T13 chicane because it would level the playing field. A level playing field is most certainly NOT the F1 game. That is precisely (IMO) why it's infinitely better than NASCAR. Personally... I think that F1 should add ballast weight to the successful cars just like the Speed GT championship. However... When a car finishes in the points it makes an extra percentage of points based off of the ballast weight... If you have 100lbs of ballast and you win (normally taking 10 points) you will take 11 points. If you win and have 120lbs of ballast... You take 11.2 points. This would keep the championship in order and not actually penalize the teams that have ballast, but would make the race more exciting for the fans . Someone please tell Bernie and Max . |
