Well, it's ugly...

From www.motorcycle.com

"Dealer reaction was something along the lines of : "What the...?" Aiming for what Yamaha sees as a relatively undeveloped portion of the scooter market they've targeted the younger, urban types. Hoping to secure an even bigger portion of the scooter market wherein they already claim the title of #1 in the U.S. Available in September you can expect to shell out around $5,199.00 for the automatic transmission, freeway legal new scoot."

Scooterific! If that is what you are looking for.

Personally if I was looking for a scooter, I'd be more interested in the Italian models. Less is more.

Is that an unmodified picture or has that photo been streeeeeetched?

I'm weird enough to like the normal type scooters that I see around but this thing is just...for lack of a better word....icky.

I'm hoping it looks better in person.

Maybe next year they can stretch it a little more & add room for a third person.

Whatever it takes to get more people on two wheels and on the highways. Hopefully, more people will start noticing bikes when driving their cages.

Suzuki Burgman 650
62.8" wheelbase.

Honda Silverwing (one of many scooter models)
62.8" wheelbase
http://powersports.honda.com/scooters/model.asp?ModelName=Silver+Wing&ModelYear=2005&ModelId=FSC6005

Yamaha's scooter flagship (one of several scooters)
63.6" wheelbase

Expect to see many more scooters on the roads in the coming months and years. Newbie friendly with the step thru/over frame, and internal storage space. A local salesgal at the Ducati store really likes her scooter and happily shows how it can carry a weeks worth of groceries inside the cargo area under the seat, and her boyfriend likes the fact that it can hold both their helmets when they go for rides together (him on his Ducati, her on her scooter).

They're here folks, have been here for years, and will be more here in the future. And y'all thought that freeway scooter that Honda came out with a few years ago was just a short term trend. Just wait to see what's coming. 'scuse me now, I think I'll go check if Aerostich is on the stock market, I think their business is about to boom.

James Bond would be right at home on one of these. Bond, James Bond.

Don't these new scoot's have a rather large diameter wheel's? I've seen a few of the Silverwing's and they had Dunlop sport tires on them. Whatever gets them on two wheels.

Well, scooters are great from a gas saving point. Otherwise, I just don't see me giving up my bike for one.

After attempting to post numerous times stating that I didn't get it, I finally do. Take performance out of the equation and the "big" scooter wins.

Super-nimble, super-efficient, plenty of storage space, easy to ride, relaxed ergonomics, room for a passenger, and decent wind protection. More convenient and easier to ride than a conventional motorcycle yet more exciting and more efficient than a car. You could use it to tour or use it to run errands.

It's completely un-masculine and un-macho. It will not boost your ego. It is the anti-SUV. I love it.

Insurance is dirt cheap for them, gas mileage is superb. With the way gas prices continue to rise you are going to see more & more variations of scooters.

They make a great in-town vehicle, much like the extremely ugly Honda Pacific coast, you could get a couple bags of groceries under the seat of that thing.

Around here least up till now most scooter riders were people who had DUI convictions. Don't need a license to ride one.

A buddy got a Burgman - he can carry 2 helmets or a case of beer under the seat.

We'll run the canyons up to grab dinner and he'll do pretty well.

We gotta get him a beanie helmet, a gray suit, white shirt and neck tie and tennies to complete the outfit.

I think the Silver Wing is 600cc and the Burgman is 650cc and I do know that they get done the road pretty good.
