Moto Guzzi V11 You scored 2 moxie, 8 zeal, and -5 pomp! You've ridden 'em all. You love riding, and you're at the peak of your game. You develop irrational love for unusual motorcycles, and the latest acquisition is a sweet Moto Guzzi. You are the most likely among the personality types to own a garage full of esoteric old bikes awaiting restoration. That's too funny. I have my eye on an MGS-01 when (and if) they come out with it! My test tracked 3 variables How you compared to other people your age and gender: You scored higher than 37% on moxie You scored higher than 67% on zeal You scored higher than 0% on pomp |

Dunno about that test, they got me on an 883 sporty too. I don't think there is a bike I would be less likely to buy...I have been riding bikes with 85+ HP for 10 years. Scraped pegs, wheelies, crashes and all. |

Thanks Ferris! Talked to Jeff and they are renting an Ultra whatever at South Valley HD/Buell to finish the trip and pick his Buell up on the way back to KC. I think I messed up his model number as I am not a big tuber historian. DBird |

Was looking for some info. Are the s3t thunderbolt and cyclone seats interchangeable? Is it possible to still buy a low seat for a cyclone? Thanks for your help!!!!!!!! |

V8basil, The seats aren't the same. You may be able to find one somewhere in old dealer stock, but it's not guaranteed. Talk to DaveS or the folks at Liberty Buell. They can probably help you out and can look up parts on H-Dnet to see who has what. If not, hit up eBay! Alex |

Both Colin Edwards and Nicky Hayden did much better than I expected today. They may not be up to beating Valentino Rossi, but we might see one or the other or both of them on the podium with him at Laguna Seca. I can't wait! |

Quick Question for everyone. My wife wants to plan a trip to the mountains there in NC or Eastern TN when I get back, so I can take the bike up there and go riding. I know there are some good spots, especially with cabins, can anyone point me in the correct direction as to where we should look at staying up there. I would appreciate it. It's a ways off, the earliest possible time for us to go would be next April after I get back from Iraq. |

Jim, i predict Nicky will be on the top of the box at Laguna. Rossi? 4th! Southern Marine, i stopped at a place called the Kickstand Lodge when i was on my trip last September. awesome setting, surrounded by incredible roads, just minutes from Deal's Gap, and Fred and Mo the proprietors are GREAT. stay safe, and thank you for what you're doing. I've seen Nicky race TT, short track and The Mile...he learns quickly. He's had a couple of good seasons dicing it up with the 'heavies' and I'm sure, just absolutely positive, he's capable of making a podium finish---I see him to be a bit like Rossi; sizing up the opposition, finding the limits of his machine, testing the track and waiting patiently for an opening and then moving decisively---call it 'controlled aggression'. Always a pleasure to watch Mr. Hayden work it out!! I'm praying that the media attention at Laguna Seca and the spectator turn out blunt the edge for NASCAR...especially here in the midwest where even the freakin' radio stations are building their programming around NASCAR personalities, events and news. So disappointing. Oh by the way, just attended my first SuperMoto event. I certainly hope this particular motorcycle sport continues to grow in popularity. Great machines, great riding skills and a real mix in ages! The event I attended has to be identified as a family oriented, young children everywhere along with parents and grand parents. Just a terrific day of midwest living at it's finest!! |

Southern M; do not miss Blue Ridge Motorcycle Campground: http://www.blueridgemotorcyclecamp.com/ Beautiful spot just a short romp down from Blue Ridge Parkway on R276 - a great road in itself The owners are riders and super nice and helpful people. They cook a simple breakfast and dinner at very reasonable prices. Nice cabins too. While you're there be sure to head over to Maggie Valley to Wheels Through Time museum. If you're bringing your wife, a nice, romantic spot - especially if the weather cooperates - is Mt. Pisgah Inn. Pricey, but worth it for the view of the valley below. And their restaurant is great - make reservations for a window seat. More info and printable maps here: http://www.blueridgeonline.com/BlueRidgeParkway.htm I hope JB2 will chime in - he has, literally, a lifetime of experience touring that area. You'll love it. Southern M, gotta add ditto to what Henrik said. If you add the Dragon, the Smokys and the Cherohala Skyway you've a pretty full plate but if you're still in need of suggestions... If you're on the Blue Ridge Parkway in the area of Mt. Pisgah there's highway 276 just south of the Inn. If you travel west you'll end up at the Blue Ridge Motorcycle Camp but if you take a 30 mile jaunt to the east you'll cross through one section of the Pisgah National Forrest and pass by one of America's most beautiful roadside falls named Looking Glass Falls. Locals call this section of 276 "Mister Twister", watch out for apex bridges though. Highway 28 between Deal's Gap and Franklin, NC is also a very nice stretch of road. Bottom line is you could stay in one neighborhood for a couple of weeks and still not see it all. Hit the high spots and leave plenty of time to follow your front wheel. I'm still discovering new places there. Ride Safe! (Message edited by jb2 on June 27, 2005) |

Oh Yeah! Mister Twister You can actually make a nice loop on R276 and R215, each of those going up and across BRP. Those 2 roads intersect west of the Parkway, and on the East side, you can connect the two going through Brevard - that connect is not much fun, just transportation - but the rest is fantastic all twisty stuff. LONG LONG time no post. I had a chance to test ride both the XB12 lightning (low seat), and a blast last week, and came away impressed. First the XB12S. SMOOOOTH! I couldn't belive how vibration free this bike was. I dont know if it's the fuel injection, or better mounts or what, but compared to my '97 S1WL White Lightning, the difference is amazing. The smoothness allowed very slow manuevering in the parking lot without any problems. I like the low seat height, and it's close to my much modded S1 (recalled shock raised it, and newer seat and lowering kit lowered it). Can't tell without a back to back sit. Found the bars about the same, with of course the new switchgear which felt the same too. One thing I didnt like about the ergos was the rear brake pedal: it's tucked way in and hard for me to get to without pigeon toeing my foot. The power seemed down compared to mine, but plenty nonetheless. VERY nice, I might finally have found a BUELL that's better than mine. The Blast was another suprise. Very low seat height (dont know which model it was), and narrow tank allowed me to not splay my knees wide. Ride was good, egos fine, in fact better than the XB, for me. It could use a tach, which leads to my one problem with it: power. At some RPMs, whack the throttle, and get nothing. A tach would help me with this. I figure with a few more HP, it would be a great around town commuter bike, which I'm trying to get. I have another bike I bought for this, and while it's faster and nimbler than the Blast, not as fun/relaxing/easy to ride. Buells have come a long way in 10 years. Overload in Colorado |

Overload - The Blast is a fun around town scooter! I have an XB9S and a Blast which my girl rides most of the time. I've taken the Blast on the twisties and while the foot pegs limit your lean, it is still a lot of fun and very confident. Around town it can't be beat. I like throwing it between cars, performing squid like maneuvers. It's just so nimble and the power is there once you learn which gear you need to be in. It's not a screamer, but the torque is much more useful IMO. |
