"You can keep thinking about what ever you want" Ooooh, the classic reversal... He's a master ladies and gentlemen... He's figured out the fine art of telling me EXACTLY what I've just told him. Good going . I made a binary clock once... Burned the IC's myself no less... I can count in binary on my fingers just as fast as in base 10... Exactly how much C++ (an antiquated language BTW) do you understand? |

ok, so maybe I am way off but it seems to me that them dilema here is whether or not to ban Odie because he is selling his homemade products via the BadWeb. Am I right or wrong? isn't there a classified section for selling stuff on the Badweb? so why does it matter. Plus, just search for odie and see how much help he alone has given to who knows how many people. I know he has helped me out before. And I thought that HELPING people was the whole purpose of a forum. so people can discuss topic of related interest for enjoyment and informational purposes. if that is was a forum is for and odie is such a contributor (almost 1500 posts) then why ban him for selling products via the BadWeb since we already established that it is allowable to sell stuff via the BadWeb (Classifieds)? But then again I don't know all the rules & regs of the Badweb and could just be way the hell out in left field. If so just ignore me. |

Buellboy - The question is about banning Aussiebuellriderz/Fogal/Wizard1000/Ibock/etc... Odie IMO has "mostly" played by the rules and you are correct, he does indeed lend a hand when it's needed. Aussie Buell Riderz on the other hand... He brought a product here, refused to back up his claims of increased power AND told Blake where he could shove it wrt policies saying something like "FK you'r policy, the more my stack gets talked about the more they will sell so FK U ..." That's just not good business at all... |

Odie shouldn't be banned, he's an asset to BadWeb in my eyes. i waited through the winter while he became hooked up with Stone Mountain to get legit for the pipe. He barely made a peep about the pipe on the boards here until that process went through. Odie, I have no idea what sponsorship costs but if you get pressured into individual sponsorship (because of the heat blankets i would assume) just know i'm happy to throw in some cashish to help the cause! Its such a fine line but i understand the boards position too. There are so many innovative/creative/talented/smart people on this board there's bound to be new 'inventions' cooked up weekly. tough thing to manage. kind of a bummer cause some of the creativity must get hidden behind PMs (or lost) where new members can't access or even know it exists. One for all, all for Buell !

.02 Cents from a newb here but I havent seen him advertise a damn thing. If I by chance had something I had made and sold it privately to someone here why would it matter? Different story if it's being advertised but I couldnt find any evidence of that here. The next great invention for our bikes may be created by one of us here and kept a secret due to all of this. |

"The next great invention for our bikes may be created by one of us here and kept a secret due to all of this." Not likely... If it's really that good, it makes SOUND FINANCIAL SENSE to become a sponsor so you can sell the stuff. It takes money to make money... |

Thank you M1. No one wants to ban Odie! Certainly not me! All this is such complete bullshit and I HATE it. Please do NOT respond to trolls. That is a formal request from a board custodian. Please honor it. |

For all of you that gave me good comments- Thank You! Blake and I have discussed this here on the board and offline. I am always ready to help anyone who needs it if I can. I have came close to sponsoring numerous times but something always stopped me. Maybe it was attitudes, maybe it was the cost, maybe it was the time that I never seem to have enough of. I am aware of the fact that I will possibly sell more items if I become a sponsor but I also have to look at the time consumption involved also. I am finishing up my website this weekend and have to discuss sponsorship with my wife. Not because I need permission but because I value her opinion in all things and she always sees things in a different light than I do. I understand Blake's position and the position of the board's sponsors. It is HIS board and WE are allowed to use it. For that, I am thankful. For those of you that are relatively new this has been an on-again off-again subject over the last 8 months or so. More than likely I will become a sponsor shortly. I have to discuss things with Blake again. Thanks again for the kind comments.....Odie |

Just to make clear- I was not talking banning Odie. His comments and toys make this place better. Now OTOH, that pod 'tard is acting like a punk kid, and oughta be slapped. I have no respect for someone only brave enuf to mouth off online, and, more importantly, he's pissing all over Blake's house. IRL that would get you thrown out. My 2¢ and I'm out. -NadZ |

Just my .02 cents and then some.. If it was NOT for ppl. like Odie I doubt this board would even be alive, Its ppl. like him that I come here to see their ideals etc.etc.etc. :-) |

"Its ppl. like him that I come here to see their ideas etc.etc.etc." Me too Hogs. But if one wishes to sell the fruits of one's ideas for profit, then shouldn't one help support the venue which facilitates the commerce? Especially when said venue requires significant support/funding just to remain alive? Odie is a good man, not someone likely to ever find himself facing being banned from the site; he has great ideas and a lot of cool stuff to offer; he's extremely enthused about doing so and thus tends to teeter near the edge of the fence on this whole issue of what is and is not appropriate for marketing on the site. I'm just trying to nudge him over to the entirely legitimate side of the fence. I know he will do well, maybe too well for his own liking. You can ask Keith of Dark Horse Moto about that scenario. Current rates for sponsorship of the site are $100/mo or $600/yr. Last time I ran a classified add in the Dallas Morning News it cost me $75 for two weeks. If anyone is thinking that Blake is making ANY profit from BadWeB sponsorship, they would be laughably, grossly, entirely mistaken. This years operating expenses are looking to run upwards of $8,000. And frankly, with the amount of time it has been demanding of me of late, I am finding it hard to justify not taking some amount of compensation for the whole deal. I don't on account of I'm lazy and if I take compensation for running the site, I'd feel even more obliged to upgrade, improve and maintain it. Hey Dago. |

FYI: I finally got around to verifying the IP addresses of Ibock, Controversy, and Wizard1000... Surprise, they are all one in the same and they all originate in Australia. We have thus been forced to ratchet up the defenses of BadWeB against this type of bothersome malevolent antagonistic behavior. |

Since the thread is already completely hijacked beyond repair- How about something in the user's profile that displayed the user's IP address or maybe just the list of screen names associated with that IP. That way it would be much easier for non-mods to see that a goon like Ibock, Wizard1000, etc. is actually all the same person creating a conversation with himself. Just an idea. Mike |

odie, just sell your stuff on e-bay so you don't have to go through all this crap!as you know there are alot of buell owners who go on e-bay all the time searching for new stuff, and you save the money of sponsership fee's.you never said anything about selling your heat blankets. you just showed everyone what you made and it was pretty cool and gave me some great ideas! thanks, odie |

Right. BadWeB and all those who support it, go to ebay! Especially now since apparently there is a massive restructuring of how ebay stays in business. I mean since ebay is now apparently free and all, Odie will save a fortune in BadWeB sponsor fees! You sure you're looking out for the best interests of Odie? Might want to rethink your advice. Can anyone imagine the "crap" one would be subject to if one tried to exploit ebay without remitting the requisite fees? As to your contention that Odie "never said anything about selling (his) heat blankets", you no read good. So here I am having to waste my personal free time to correct you on the issue. In direct answer to the question "Odie, I couldn't find those heat barrier's on the DEI website. How much are they and where do you get them?" Odie replied "I made them. I use to the stickers just to show what products I use to make them out of....." which was followed by further commentary by others as follows... "Odie, that looks pretty good! Are you planning on making them to sell? I'm sure a lot of people would be interested." which in turn was answered by another "He does - I've got the under airbox barrier and under seat barrier. He does a nice job." Like I said, he's skirting the edge of the fence and I'm just trying to protect the integrity of the board and its value to paying sponsors. If you don't like that, you need to cease participating here. Entirely your choice. Your post is out of line, in violation of board policy; you are flat out wrong, and you are certainly not looking out for the board which you apparently enjoy nor are you in my opinion looking out for the best interests of Odie or anyone interested in selling Buell related products. |

Sorry Buellboy05, that was my attempt at sarcasm. The truth is that ebay does indeed levy significant fees on all those who use their online auctions or storefronts to sell stuff. It wouldn't take much at all to rack up fees far in excess of those required for sponsorship of BadWeB. |

Blake - Your characterization of eBay as expensive is entirely correct. For me to sell a Drummer without trade in on eBay and accept paypal as payment costs just under $35. |
