My guess is that it will take Rossi a couple of days to learn the track, then he'll get the pole position in the last couple of minutes, and go on to win the MotoGP race, and make it look easy. Of course, I could be wrong. Jim |

Went to the AFM races at Thunderhill today(my Fathers Day gift to myself.)Perfect weather, great folks and food, what a day!.Shawn Reilly on the Vallejo Buell XB rocked!!!Started in 5th on the outside of front row and was in first by the end of lap one.Diced with the top guy in the class for the entire race.He was able to outbrake him and corner a bit better--no surprise, but was actually pulling him and passing on the long front straight!!Bobbled a bit in the last lap on a backmarker and got passed, but went for a photo finish and nipped into first at the finish line.Fantastic job all around!! |

I'd like to walk around the merchandising trailers to get some posters to decorate my cubicle (and some Dave Blaney/RCR gear), but I don't think I can do that without buying a ticket. Unfortunately, I think I will just save the ticket and gas prices and use it to buy beer to drink while watching the race. <sigh> Danny 95 S2 02 V-Strom |

I missed the BRAG package when they first went on sale. I had to settle for a ticket for race day. Any chance of getting into the pits without that package? I am taking my son with me, so any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks. |

Danny: You are correct, you can not get access to the souvenior rigs without getting into the track at Sears Point. At Charlotte and some of the other tracks, the vendors are outside of the track. Keep an eye on the # 49 Schwans Car with Kenny Schrader behind the wheel. Enjoy the cold brew. Be Safe (Message edited by Hotrodsportster on June 20, 2005) |

Ok Jose then why are the Buells so high to insure? My first quote was $1600 per year when I bought my XB. I was 42, no tickets, and multi bike owner. I also thought the "list" was illegal? Dang insurance companys....... |

Shawn's win in FIV was huge! He had to ride the wheels off that Buell, actually slidding both tires in some turns; but, pulled off the win at the line. First time ever for a Buell to even podium in FIV. Vik |

I'd like to see that insurance study expanded for more than just the top and bottom five models. |

Well ya know the Buell win in F-IV was just because the Buell has such an un-fair advantage over the SV's.... but wait...wasnt that a 400 he was racing against? hmmmmm..... |

Ok Jose then why are the Buells so high to insure? "Buell is owned by Harley Davidson, so that means any repairs will be at Harley Davidson prices for parts and labor". That is a what I was informed of by multiple agents when I was trying to arrange the insurance for my XB initially. |

Shawn after his win. Strategy played a big role as the VFR400 he was racing against actually turned a faster fastest lap (as did an SV). Vik (Message edited by eeeeek on June 21, 2005) |

The test suggested I consider: "...a FXST Softail weighs 629lbs dry, the base version starts around $14k, and will make 75-80hp -- after you tweak it with pipes and a jet kit. A Buell XB12R weighs 395lbs dry, costs $10.5k and makes 103hp, stock. An Aprilia Tuono R weighs 417lbs, costs $12k, and makes 125hp, stock. At least consider Harley's V-Rod, which mixes in some modern engineering into the equation (596lbs, 125hp, $17k)..." ..Hhmmmmm A Buell huh? |

Yamaha YZF R1 You scored 6 moxie, 10 zeal, and -2 pomp! You're addicted to speed, but have the knowledge and experience to match. Although you like to win, you don't really care so much about competing with others as much as competing with yourself. Your bike is the Yamaha YZF R1. Given how easily the rear wheel on this beast spins up coming out of turns, it is fortunate that you constantly work to improve your skills. (I've seen more R1s crash at track days than any other bike.) It was a close decision with the Suzuki GSXR1000, but your personality seemed a bit more R1-ish. (But hey, I could be wrong. Its only a silly test.) |

I was wavering on a couple questions so I took the other path the second time... This is what I got... Moto Guzzi V11 You scored 5 moxie, 9 zeal, and -5 pomp! You've ridden 'em all. You love riding, and you're at the peak of your game. You develop irrational love for unusual motorcycles, and the latest acquisition is a sweet Moto Guzzi. You are the most likely among the personality types to own a garage full of esoteric old bikes awaiting restoration. |

Hmmm... Answered the same as last time (when I got the Guzzi) but decided I wanted a Harley... They gave me the FJR1300... Yamaha FJR1300 You scored 5 moxie, 9 zeal, and -2 pomp! You have the characteristics of a master street rider. On the way to work, your love for riding sometimes leads you to take the long way. The 50-miles-of-back-roads long way. You live for the perfect road, and plan vacations around riding. You need a bike that can handle your addiction to the twisties as well as comfortably carry two on a weekend trip through the mountains. Your bike is the FJR1300. Can I borrow it someday? |

Have taken that quiz a few times and no matter how I change my answers, it keeps recommending a Harley FXST, a Buell XB12S and an Aprilia Tuono. Well, I have a Harley Wide Glide and a Buell X1 which match the first two. Looks like I need to start shopping for that Aprilia, eh? Personally, I get the feeling the quiz gets real biased for us older folks. |
