Dave, Theres a pro series header on e-bay ending soon I've been bidding on. I already have the pro header on my M2 but I thought for the right price I would get a second. I really like it. I run an older Supertrap IDS. Fits no problem and sound just as good if not better the the pro series muffler. By the way its listed as brand new. Also nice color choice!!! Ryan |

incidentally, 'stead of the battery tender, jess disconnect (- term. of )the bat-tree in the winter, if you're not riding every couple weeks. this is actually a bit better for bat-tree life, and it's a cinch on these here tube-frame buells. bar-end mirrors are a nice ergo-upgrade, as well. |

Try a X-lyte Helmet. They are made by Nolan and they are the lightest and quietest helmet I've ever worn. Kind of Gizmoey, but the way the shield sucks back, you don't get the wind noise. Try Nelson Riggs for bags, I've got a tank and saddlebags from them. Reasonably priced and great customer service. |

I have a Buell tankbag, real nice and big, durable, very functional. Banke rearsets, which I don't think are made anymore, but give great clearance and IMO a better riding position. Don't know what size ya are, but I resprung and racetech goldvalved my forks, and WOW! did that help, and you might consider a track class after that MSF course, more education and experience always being a good thing. Love that color combo! Have fun! |

Just getting started riding a 2000 M2. I find switching the gas tank from on to reserve a little clumsy to do but have not done it rolling yet. Do those give much warning when they get low on "ON"? A stutter or something? My plan is to not need to switch it rolling but you never know... Jack |

Mine stutters a bit. I usually just leave my trip meter on and tank up after 100 miles. I have pulled 135 once before hitting the reserve. Just remember to flip it back! |

Jack, She'll start kicking and sputtering like something isn't right. Toss out the left leg, switch the petcock and you are good to go. Koz, I am in the same boat as you. Hit reserve ONE time, the petcock was at the 'on position', didn't check when picked up my 'new' used bike from the dealership I don't go to anymore. 100-120 miles was my usual range, not based on fuel mileage or the bike hitting reserve, but what I felt comfortable with. I STILL play the mileage game with my firebolt, and have only had the low fuel light come on a few times. Prior |

the one time i ran out in the "ON" position she didn't sputter, kick...nothing. i was "crusing" at 90+mph down the interstate on the way to the dealership. just got done passing a line of cars and she just shut-off and coasted to a stop. of course then i got to see all the dirty looks from the cars behind me. sometimes you just have to laugh... |

Yeah, that's too damn funny. My riding buddy is having the time of his life making fun of me and my "newb" riding habits. Like leaving the turn signal on forever, and (like the above stories) running out of gas...coasting on the highway only to figure it out after I stopped. My bike didn't sputter, just slowly lost speed until it shut off. That reminds me, I'm such a Mongo that I busted the fuel petcock (is that what it's called?) handle. I can still turn it on/off/reserve, but it takes a little effort. A little update: I'm planning on getting the air intake done asap (Have to talk to Dave first, otherwise I'll get the one off American Sport Bike). Getting oil changed to Synthetic this weekend. Got my Helmet, Jacket, Gloves, Boots, Cruise Control, battery tender and alarm in the mail. Bought the wife a nice HJC helmet too. She was a bit upset after finding out that I ordered all that stuff and didn't think to get her a helmet (until a couple days ago). DOH! Tramp, I'm lazy and I already have a spot to plug in the tender in my shed where I park my bike. Ryan, I would love that pro header, but can't afford it right now unfortunately. I'm finding that I have to pace myself on my purchases. I'd love nothing more than to buy everything I want all at once. Normal: I like this Nelson-Riggs bag, what does everyone else think of it? Price seems reasonable too: http://store.azmusa.com/800-015z.html |

Jack, Fill up when the tripmeter ticks over 139 miles and you'll NEVER have to try it. |

First day I had my bike I learned that the front forks don't turn the same amount as my Honda nighthawk did. I leaned over and started out of a parking spot only to find my bike wasn't turning the way I thought it should. As my bike started to fall I put my foot down, turned my ankle, but was at least smart enough to give it some gas to make it stand right back up. I am much more carefull in parking lots now! My ankle hurt for a month. I also have been a serious culprit of the turn signal thing. |

Captainkirk said - Fill up when the tripmeter ticks over 139 miles... So I did that today at 135 miles and it only took 2.5 gallons (on the stand, 1/4" short of the lowest part of the filler pipe, same as last fill). That works out to 54 MPG, can that be right? I'm not riding it hard at all but I didn't think it would do that good. I really like it in the 2500 to 4000 RPM range and rarely see 4500. Jack |

I like throttle happy too. The HP/torque crossover point on the M2 (about 4,500?) is a lovely thing. I was never one for pushing a rev limit if most of the good work was already done. I have been a off road rider at heart most of my life. Fire roading the M2 has already crossed my mind but it is not likely to happen. Jack |
