so i have a s3 and i was curious if there are any tube framers that are single seaters like the new buells are. im thinking about possibly swapping out rear stuff and seat for a single seater that'll be way sportier, esp since i dont ever ride anyone garrett | ||

You could probably get a seat built up with a "hump" to match the curve of the end of the tail section - essentially making it a single-seater. Sargent Cycle may be able to help and are known for quality work. Otherwise a local upholstery shop ?? Henrik | ||

S1 are single seat. Keep an eye on ebay and you can find the complete rear section. X1's can be made to look like a single seater. | ||

Actually the only Buells that were ever true single seaters were the RRs and the RSS(1 in my garage) models from the good old days. The new Buells and S1s all have passenger pegs on them so they are not single seaters. | ||

Not a Buell expert but my 98 S1w had only pegs for the rider.from what I recall http://www.motorcycle.com/mo/mccompare/bikini/yank3.html You might be able to fit a size zero girl on the back. But no Fat chicks on a s1w  | ||

Garett -- I'm guessing an S1 seat will NOT bolt up to your S3 -- major frame differences keep that from happening your best bet, would be to find a bunch buellers and check out their scoots . . . .bring a tape measure with ya ;-} or, find an S1 pilot that wants to swap, mebbe | ||

Garrett2, it won't be quite that simple, I think the S1 frame is one-piece, ie, there is no separate rear section to unbolt. You might have to fab something up. It'd be easier to do like Henrik suggested. rt | ||

Yes, you have to do some mods to make the S-1 tailsection work. A guy at our American Sport Bike Night group in California had Modesto make the changes to his M2 and make the S1 tailsection and seat work. I had corbin make a new seat for me, making it mainly a one person seat. the rest of the seat blended into the tailsection like was mentioned above..... REX | ||

Ryker, Your own picture betrays you. Look at the traiangle shape piece going back towards the rear brake. thats the passenger peg mount. | ||

Buelliedan, True the triangular pieces are pass. peg mounts but the tabs that the pegs mount to are covered (34634-97Y if anyone was interested) on the S-1W. | ||

Garrett, like you I wanted a single seat for sport work in the canyons. I bought a stock used M2 seat on e-bay for $40 and had it redone at a local upholstery shop. Here is what it looks like. I really like the secure feeling it affords when having fun riding aggressively.  | ||

damn dude...that makes that bike look awsome! did you ever run into any problems with rocks and •••• hittin the electronics underneath when you took off the rear fender/belt guard? and what about taking off the sprocket/belt covers on the right side (i ask because i do carry a passenger every now and then and i don't want to worry about shoe laces and feet getting stuck in either area)??? i've been wanting to do those two things (along with the heat shield) but am woried about screwing up my bike. dont mean to ask so many questions (or look like a poser trying to copy your bike) but when it comes to motorcycles i love striped down, only what you need kind of bikes. when i bought an '03 V-Star back in...well...'03, the first thing i did was remove all turnsignals the license plate mount and one of the mirrors just cause i thought those things made the bike look a little cluttered. but i have to be honest when i say that i love the look of your M2. i even told a buddy of mine about it at work and he thought it would make the bike look way better and more badass without the body work. K -- gee, am I offended by someone asking me to talk about my bike? HECK NO! (smile) thanks for the kind words -- no trouble with the electronics thus far -- they are not well protected under the stock bodywork anyways (not a slam about the body work, btw), so I'm guessin their are fairly bombproof -- I do have to find an alternate place to mount the fuse block, though -- that'll clean up the right side of the scoot a little there is a chain guard on the upper chain run -- check out the pics on the pic thread for a better look at it -- heat shield? if you're talking about the alloy piece in front of the wheel, it's more to protect the oil bad than anything else -- it's got some good sized dents in it from FOD (foreign object damage), and I'd like to not hole the oil bag far from home, ya know? if I were doing it all again, I'd extend the seat down another 1/2 to 3/4 inch and have a little more of an upward curve to it as it goes to the rear -- all in all, though, I'm pretty pleased with the cafe racer deal | ||

Spidey put an S1 tail on his M2 and it looks the dogs bollox  I am in the process of laying out an XBR tailsection for my S3. Unknown to Lake, the S3 frame is actually bent in the tail section and one top frame rail. (the discoloration spot you were wondering about Lake) Tramp, if you have a set of S3 triples laying around...I would be interested inseeing what we might be able to arrange... |
