About 1,500 miles on the bag set up and it is holding up well. The outer bracket pieces are from a friends wrecked Seca mounts. You can pick up the rear of the bike by the mounts and they don't flex. I have had maybe 20 pounds in each bag so far, ammunition, with no trouble. The rear pegs still work. I hope to find some retro reflective stuff for the back of the bags some time. |

That is just simply amazing. Awesome job! Those lights must light up the road something fierce. |

Hi guys, long time no see! Nice bike there Roc! Like the pannier setup - any more info available? Is it likely to be something I can put on my Lightning?? (Not 100% sure on the foglights but I bet you can see where you're going...) |

I thought my stock mirrors looked like Mickey Mouse ears...those lights make it look like one pissed off Mickey. Cool conversion with the bags! |

Miss piggy - I will answer any questions I can, I'm not very familiar with the s-type tail section. Givi told me that they would not make a Buell mount. Enigma - Look at it again. The frame, tube steel, is the only part with any weight. It is as central and low as I could think to make it within the restraints of: the shape and line of the tail section, ground clearance, and a strong/safe places to mount it to the bike. I think I could have made it lighter, but I'm no engineer and I wanted to carry some weight on occaison, so I opted for safety. |

Big lights and heated grips, I can't think of any better go fast performance modifications for a road rider. |

Roc, I emailed Givi a while ago and wasn't exactly surprised when they said they hadn't managed to come up with a "luggage solution" (their words) for Buells... Yours looks neat (as in "tidy" ), although it's a shame you couldn't get the rear of the bags to angle in further, in line with the tail section. I assume it just wasn't possible. Perhaps you could sell the design to someone? Can you tell me what the frames bolt to on the bike (especially the top front and mid mountings - looks like you've added brackets through the plastic undertray?)? I can't quite see from the photos. Then I'll have a look to see if the Lightning has anything similar to bolt things to. I don't really want to have to go to a 'bolt rear subframe. It looks like you've got the basic rectangular frames from the pannier kit and added/modified your own struts to bolt to the bike? Is this correct? Looks like an excuse to get rid of the teastrainer anyhow!... |

I think I could tail in/toe out the bags more, but it might add a little weight. The bag frame bolts to the bikes frame with 4 1/4" grade 8 bolts per side. Two 1/4" holes were drilled horizontally through the frame above each tab that mounts to the bag frame. A 1/16" x 3/4" steel strip runs along the frame and connects one tab and bolt combination to the other. All holes drilled in the tail frame are behind where the rider sits and in an area that is supported by cross bracing. The rectangular givi mounts came from a friends wrecked givi setup. |

That is great!!! Now if you could increase fuel capacity, it would be a great sport tourer... Two thumbs up!!! |

I dunno about Roc, but... With the stock seat, I don't NEED more range/fuel capacity! |
