I know that there has been a post out there on this site about repairing/reinforcing the existing bags. Now I know that I should at least attempt this fix but I am just curious how anyone who has applied this fix, how there "new" bags are holding up. I just took my bags off today so that I could put the bike in the shed and a piece of the bag broke off and now I can stick my fingers through the bag. Just curious how the reinforcement is working for anyone. I am a little concerned that the because my bags are so bad now, I wonder if the reinforcement would really work. Any feedback would be appreciated. |

You need to talk to Al at American Sport Bike. Either here in the sponsor section or at the American Sport Bike web site. He has done a lot of work on fixing/strengthing the bags. |

No cracks on either mine or Reindog's bags since performing the fix. Tom's were cracked up pretty good at the mounting point. He didn't do the fourth mounting point conversion, but I do recommend it. Al |

I remember seeing the link to that mounting point mod...Can you please redirect me? With this mod...Can the bags still be removed? I need to remove the bags when I store the bike. Well it is good to hear that they hold up after the repair. Do the liners still fit in the bags as well? Just curious. |

I just used the Badweb search function, "S3 saddlebag repair" words with the AND function, and the first link is the right one. The badweb search function is very handy, there is so much info here, finding it is the hard part. The search function usually makes reasonably quick work of it. http://www.badweatherbikers.com/buell/messages/3842/34032.html The first article is the fiberglassing, but read on, the 4th mounting point mod is shortly afterwards. My liners are the old style cloth bags, not the MCM molded ones. That said, I am quite sure that neither the fiberglassing mod nor the 4th mounting point mod affect the inner bag fit at all. Al |
