picked up a 2001 cyclone with 630 miles. have only gone up the block with it, still need to get plate. I dont have a owners manual. -I guess I need to change the oil and plugs. anything else I should do? anyone know if 2001 cyclones had any recalls? | ||

Trans. fluid. Dunno about the recalls. All I could find were recalls for the 2000 Cyclone. Don't know if they'd apply to you but here's the link Get the service manual for that bike. It's a great bike. I have 12,000 miles on my 2002 and love it. The only things you may want to do are 1. pick up a service manual. It will save you lots of money on basic maintnance 2. Replace the speed sensor with an updated on that has a filter. It is very easy to do. 3. keep an eye on your rocker box gaskets. They were originaly made of paper, but now are made of metal. these may end up leaking as they did on most sportsters and Buells of that time. (mine did,but had them replaced under warranty) Have fun!  | ||

Not sure about other areas but in the Bay Area they insure the same as a 1200 Sportster. Way less money than an XB. | ||

Swampy, As Court will say, the Cyclone is the best motorcycle ever built... I love my firebolt, love my Cyclone, the Cyclone and I, we've bonded a bit more. The bike I saw today was from Virginia by the inspection sticker on it. Crossroads bars, sprocket cover, rearsets, and little carbon fiber pieces here and there(covers and what not) oil cooler. It looked real good and it hadn't been all buggered up with the installation of neon lights and crap like that. Is the price about right? I probably won't get it as I am on a fixed income right now(LOL) | ||

I'd say it is fair. With the added parts, I'd say thats a decent price. Check eBay and Cycle Trader for a comparison, from what I have seen there it a deal. Who the hell puts neon lights on a Buell? | ||

It looked real good and it hadn't been all buggered up with the installation of neon lights and crap like that. I just got done installing 18 more LED lights on my bike to bring the total up to 78. It glows very nicely at night and not one light is visible. I drilled the headlight assembly to mount six bulbs that light up the front end. And yes I ride my bike, sometimes even on the track! | ||

Bring it on... You can't out bling me! I am the owner of the "Bling Bling Pimp Daddy Buell". Let me know if you need some help with your winter project... I just got done restoring another bike. A 1987 Honda Elite 50. It had been sitting for 14 years but only had 580 miles on it. I know know what a REALLY gummed up carb looks like! It turned out good though. I got her up to 29 mph yesterday and she start on the first or second kick. | ||

A bunch of the "bling" I'm just gonna make myself, like triple clamps, etc... I've got an idea for a new dash for the S3. But the LED lights, nah... they just don't really do it for me. But Chrome, ya baby! The Elite50 the wife's new track bike? Or are ya gonna bling that up, and add some LEDs?  | ||

Actually, I thought about chopping it up and making it a "street legal" mini chopper. Not sure yet really, it was just one of those deals where I had to buy it. BTW, chrome looks even better with LED on it...Maybe some nice red... | ||

Mine is a 2002, and it failed.. so i just soddered the wires together.. cause it failed on me driving down Woodward Ave.. in PEAK TRAFFIC!! talk about ticking ya off.. | ||

FWIW- the sidestand switch on my '99 Cyclone never failed in the 17k miles I put on it. Besides, disabling the sidestand switch is only a wire nut away. It should be an easy fix if the switch did decide to fail while riding. By the way, the Cyclone is an _awesome_ bike. I sold mine to buy my Firebolt and there are many days where I miss my M2. By the way, the Cyclone is an _awesome_ bike. I'm glad to hear you say that. There are so many posts about them breaking down that I just ride around wondering what is going to fall off. I hate the mind games I put myself through :-( | ||

All you got to do is spray the switches with contact cleaner and keep them lubricated. Mine are 7 years old and still no problems. And the riding environment up here is terrible at times. | ||

cant wait to get it on the road! I am currently upstate NY. 9 days till I get back to Long Island and the BUELL. Any recommendations on oil? the bikes got 635 miles and needs new oil. I think I will try Mobil synthetic. owners manual would be nice too, all i got with it was a BUELL cover. The nice days are being wasted!! ARGHHH! | ||

Interceptor, It is not easy to keep the throttle almost closed, once you are in the saddle. Giving the engine, with its huge cylinders, plenty time for its warming up is best for a long and trouble free engine life. It is a good idea to start the engine and let it idle a few minutes, while you make the last preparations, like cleaning your visors, or whatever. You have made The Best Buy. Have fun. Hans  |
