I'm going to paint a few things with the Crinkle Black paint. Do I need to use primer or do I spray it straight to the prepared metal? TIA...Phat

I did the speedo housing about six years ago. Holding up great. Used primer. I think any paint needs it for grip.

Crinkle black sucks as a motorcycle finish. It looks great when it is new but the first time you get in a rainstorm road grunge gets into the crack and sets up. After a while it looks real grungy and there's no practical way to clean the dirt out of the cracks. The effect is cumulative and gets worse over time. Gloss black or flat black is better.

If you get HD crinkle black paint it will hold up. It is only for bare metal if memory serves. Its been a while since I used it but be sure to rough up smooth parts (I used a scotch brite pad plane without soap) and clean with a degreaser like acetone. I used 3 light coats in between drying time (took about 3 days). Hope this helps. Good luck
