why are you selling it?
Going back to stock? Perhaps you found a different replacement? f.a.s.t. etc.
I'm just curious.

Yep. Going back to stock. I found that on my bike the mounting points only lined up on one hole when I installed it but I figured it would be okay with just one bolt in it. (The mounting points on my bike were not 180 degrees from each other. The stack was drilled correctly) Instead, it looks as though some of the vibes from the engine were causing it to rub on the throttle body. I didn't want to damage the stack or my bike so I figured I would sell it and try something else down the road. The FAST sounds like a nice alternative.

I remember reading that intake shoot out article some months ago and this stack (according to the article) did what it said it would. Though it was never clear as to whether it was the stack or the 12 air cover or the combination of the two that did the trick.

As I recall, it got about a 3 hp gain & eliminated the flat spot on a race kitted 9.

The f.a.s.t. was good for either a 6 or 11 hp gain. I can't remember which it was.

If I had the money I'd buy it. Not for my bike but I could think of a few creative ideas for a shiny piece of aluminum.

Metalstrom I think it was like a 6-7 hp gain, but unfortunalty there is no US dealers for the F.A.S.T system you have to go directly to HBM (I am not saying that in a bad way at all) Jans always shows support to this board. I KNOW I STILL WANT ONE

Buelltroll, You had to go and bring his name up again....now lets how long it takes for everyone to start chimming in.

I just ordered the FAST intake from HBM (Jens). Can't wait to get it! The hot ticket is to order just the v-stack and mat. Get the K&N here in the US. Much cheaper that way!

I believe IRONMACHINE is the US distributor for HBM. His name slipped my mind, but they are great to work with.

I don't specifically remember any tests of the pod filter alone...

I do remember some guy by the name of 420@145 telling all of us how cool Corey James was to deal with though... I wonder what ever happened to him ; )?

Buelj79, yes they are distributors but the system is no longer on their site, and they are good to deal with. I am sure if I actually got off my butt and called they could special order for me.

M1combat, I hear that 420 guy is gone forever... there is this other guy that "has been playing well with others" maybe ADMIN can reconsider.

Devil_1, "rules and guidelines are your downfall" The F.A.S.T. system was tested and proven by a respected member of this board (Englishman)and results were posted. It was not like someone joined the Forum and started making claims on their own product without becoming a sponsor.

The right way to do things is the way Darkhorse/Odie/Norris to name the most recent. Members of the board first sharing knowledge and participating. Than developed a product. Tested and proved their goods worked. Than became a sponsor or had a sponsor distribute their products. REAL SIMPLE (for some)

The one glaring omission in the stack tests that were done and reported here was that they did not include a baseline with the new improved airbox lid, which in and of itself has been shown to significantly improve performance.

There just isn't that much we can do to significantly improve performance via modifications to the stock intake. Conversely, there is a BUNCH that we can do to significantly impede performance via intake modifications.

Honestly I don't expect a miraculous improvement.

I'm having kowpow send it to a friend of mine in Florida where I will pick it up. I have a baseline dyno, I will make another one with the new tfi settings, and one with the new stack. That should give us graph junkies what we want.

Will your baseline be with the new improved lid or the original '03 XB9 lid?

The last dyno run I did is with a homemade cone similar to a cut 12 lid.

Unless the SVVS stack comes with the vortex cone (as englishman119 tested it), I will replace my homemade cone with an original 12 lid and cut it.

It will be august/september before I will be able to do this. Suggestions?

You can order the stack with or without the cone. I have replaced my stack with with the SVVS stack. But i did it more because ive had some issues with the stock one flapping at high rpms after messing around with the airbox bottom. Got tired of it one day and ordered it up. I personaly think the bikes powerband is much smoother with the new stack. Oh and i do have the 12 airbox too.

Blake has a really good point. To truely see what the stack does you should to do a base run with an unmodified 2003 or 2004 9 lid & stock stack then one with the SVVS stack with unmodified 2003 or 2004 lid. That way the stack is on it's own with no help from anything else.
Once & for all it will be clear if it's the stack, the 12 lid or the combo that does the most good.
