Unfortunately I know the dealer of which X1Girl speaks of. Its Barnett HD in El Paso and she is right they really suck! I bought my first Buell from them and luckily for me I had a bit of mechanical knowledge because if I hadn't I wouldn't have ever bought another Buell due to the poor dealership experience I got from barnett. |

The dealer I go to is Dudley Perkins & they no longer sell Buell merchandise. Buell parts have to be ordered. Six years ago they were almost wall to wall Buell but alas no longer. I can understand their decision because the Buell line was not selling well enough to keep stock. It sucks for us few Buell fanatics out here in the Bay Area but business is business. To their credit however, they continue to sell & service Buell motorcycles. They have a really good Buell tech there and the service guys are very Buell friendly. Hell they even loaned me the owner's Fatboy while my bike sits in the shop awaiting a new switch assembly. (Warranty work which they had absolutely no problem with).
As far as parts go, it's not a problem so long as we have Daves & Clown who are just a phone call or e-mail away. They're a thousand times better than ordering from the dealer. It's the same wait time, actually, I think Daves & Clown are much faster. I save on gas and their 10% discount counters the shipping charge. Win-win situation. |

I know I'm very late to this thread, but what the heck. I bought my 2000 S3T new from Stone Mountain HD/Buell. As we were signing the paperwork on it, I got a ton of prejudice from the dealership about the Buell line. I could not believe they were telling me the Buell products suck (their words, not mine) and the one I was getting is the only decent bike they made. Ever since then, I've had the feeling when ever I go in there, I'm the red-headed step child, so I go only when I have to.
I went in a few months ago on a whim, I asked about trading my bike in on a used V-Rod. I was very insulted at what they offered for my bike. Since that time, something has gone on in the marketplace. I returned this week and was welcomed with open arms. The new Buell Ulysses was placed prominently in front of the main entrance and I noticed what seemed to be more Buells there than ever. When I went to the parts counter, I was even given several pieces of Buell swag for free that were pretty darn nice.
I then noticed that the new 2006 Harleys were on the floor, so I decided to check them out. To my utter surprise, they were priced at true MSRP. I have NEVER seen a Harley at this dealership for MSRP. I was told by salesperson Pete, who rode Buells until he had a bad wreck, that the market has "saturated" so the prices now reflect the fact that people are not willing to pay crazy prices. This also seems to have had the effect for the dealership to embrace their existing and potential Buell customers.
While I am very happy with my S3T and might toy with the idea of replacing it, I don't see me doing that. I am intrigued by the new Buells, but they don't fit my riding style like the Thunderbolt does. At least I'm happy that in the new focus to sell their bikes, Stone Mountain HD seems to be trying to embrace our fellow Buell Riders a lot better. |

Mixed feelings....
I visited another so-called Buell dealer today. I don't think I really need to elaborate on my experience... you all know exactly what I'm going to say.
I completely give up on trying to get any service in the state of California. I figured putting 500 miles between myself and my local "dealers" might change things, but it didn't.
Too bad for them I say. I'm an impulse shopper with more cash than sense. Maybe it's a blessing in disguise, because quite frankly I like being the only person on the road with a bike like mine. It's so rare that I see another one at all, it's shocking when I do. Sure, when ya go to a biker hangout there are always a couple of them, but thats about it. I was however delighted to discover my new neighbor has one just like mine, different color. We ride together on occasion, and its fun.
Buell can continue selling 3 bikes a year and thats just fine with me. Makes mine all the more unique. |

Head for NCal and we can find ya a few good dealers.Can't say enough good things about mine--Vallejo HD/Buell.
I needed to work on my B'ville bike the other day and they handed me the key to the new building with the race shop in it.Said lock up when you are done.There I was surrounded by about 40 new bikes and who knows how much in tools etc.Worked on my bike for about 3 hours undisturbed,locked up, and went on my way. |

I remember THAT year quite well.
Buell is now making top quality state of the art motorcycles as fast as The Elves can produce them.
This is the first year that folks are queing up and going on waiting lists for Buells.
Welcome to the new world Luke.
There is a serious dealer issue to be dealt with and changes are underway. That, however, takes nothing away from the quality of the product.

Hmmm...stand alone dealerships? Maybe some enterprising Triumph, Ducati, Victory, or even dare I say, BMW dealers, could bring some new blood to the network. |

The local Victory dealer here won't even look at a Buell, neither will the nearest Triumph or BMW dealer, the nearest Ducati dealer will at least consider one in trade ( offered $1,500 for the 2000 M2 or $1200 for the 1995 S2 ).
Needless to say, I rode the M2 to work today, the S2 is at home in the garage waiting on carb work. |

Thunder, are you speaking of Stone Mountain H-D/ Buell in Georgia?? I know these guys are Buell supporters. They had another March Badness event this year with the Demo truck and Erik Buell himself showing up!! They also went above and beyond helping a Buell rider get back up and running during that event. I believe they are also the sponsoring dealer for the 3% BRAG club. |

The S-2, for me, is the absolute "keeper". Mine is in the hands of Aaron Wilson being freshened and receiveing a little bit of "Wilson Spirit". The bodywork is in the hands of Jim Bantz being returned to it's Lap of America colors scheme.
The S-2, irrespective of the advance in Buell techology, remains the definitive Buell. I've owned 9, ridden well over a thousand in the last 20 years and the S-2 is. . . well "special".
I had a long love affair with my RS's and never hesitated to jump on them and got places. But the S-2 has taken me all over this country and was the first Buell to lay tracks on most the neat places like Mt. Palomar and the Blue Ridge Parkway. It's kinda a love affair.
For whatever reason, it'll join my first motorcycle (a 1952 Cushman) and sit right here next to my desk. Like the Cushman, it will be maintained in ridable condition and ready at the drop of a hat.
Funny thing is, the BMW sitting outside is near new and I'll roll a Buell out of the house before I'll ride it, except when I need TONS of luggage.
The S-2 is one of the most inspired and "designed" bikes to ever hit the road...it, as the poster says, is PASSION.

Right you are. And, the "yeah, but the quality of the BMW luggage" holds no water either.
This Buell stuff is, as they say in the luggage business, TOP DRAWER.

i just got my xb9 sx from petersons in miami h-d they where great.. there south store only has about 4 buelles but the n north store has a whole bunch. i had a 2002 sporty it was a great bike but this buell is BAD.. |

The RR1000 denoted an important shift in American motorcycles. The S2 was substantially more significant. If God made anything better, he kept it for himself. |
