Elff, Joe Rocket makes their stuff in "short" lengths as a size option |

Joe Rocket does not make a Small Short which is what I would need. The Medium short is the same length as the short regular which was 3" too long. The Joe Rocket sizing is misleading. They list the size as 29" but it is actually 29-32" Translation It is a 32" inseam, shorter people need to deal. |

The Aerostitch gear is made by a guy who is from the apparel industry originally, and they have pretty good sizing info. Also, they are good about returns. |

Besides offering great protection, wearing a Joe Rocket Phoenix also means I don't have to grease my fair skinned self up with spf50 sun block. Bob |

I know many folks who gear up when riding their Buells (or other sporty bikes), but wear the standard issue jeans/vest/t-shirt/no lid when cruising on their cruisers . . . makes me wonder if this is contributing to the Older Riders on Big Cruisers Getting Hurt more These Days syndrome . . . . personal choice, and all that, but, please, make it an informed one -- crashing hurst, big time, and burns (road rash) are the worst, in my experience take it from me -- skin grafts are a b1tch! |

I had another thought,it occured to me that if more of us sport bike riders wore our gear it might aleviate some of the bad stigma around sport bike riders. What i mean by this is that maybe people will have the though, " hey that guy is all suited up, he must care about his safety" therefore he must not ride like the typical jackoff on a sportbike. Granted there is always going to be some dummies on sport bikes, leather or no leather. But it has been proven that people that dress like they mean buisness get respected as if they mean it. |

My wife, being very petite could never find jacket or pants that were what I considered proper riding gear. Last year, we took the 70 or whatever measurements and sent them to Vanson. She now has a jacket and pants that fit her correctly. She's also used the same set of measures to get a one piece from them. I know it's more expensive, but if off the shelf won't work, then get them made to fit. Now if she only gets her boots in time.. (this has been one of those things she's loath to do, since she feels kind of 'restricted' in all that gear.. I tell her to wear it, she'll get used to it and it'll be great.. just in case something happens..) |

Ya know what pisses me off more than anything- A hot chick in a tank top and no helmet on the back of an R1(etc). She's trusting that kid in a wife-beater and flip-flops. He's made his decision, but she'll be the one that pays. Very, very, very, wrong. |

That really pisses me off too. She should ride on my bike instead. |

Seriously, I get freaked out when kids are on the back with helmets that don't fit and no jacket. The same parents probably smoke in the car with the windows up and the kids in the back. "My parents did, and it didn't hurt me" |

I've posted it before, I'll post it again. Jeans, hooded sweatshirt, tennis shoes. This picture is almost a month after the accident. those knees just dont look right (and they dont work as well as before) This is a picture of my helmet after a crash, I went through having my face heal once, twice would not have been fun. And I hit my head harder the second time, I can only imagine how messed up I would have been(if still here). I was back to school and work the day after the second crash, just a bit on the sore side. Gear really is made for a good reason. |

The hotter it gets here the less I see people wear on bikes. I'm a truck driver and because I'm on the road all day & I see lots of bikes. I think there are more sport bike riders wearing gear especially here in Cali. But the cruisers are another story. Not too long ago I saw a guy smack the back of a car that stopped suddenly. I stopped to help out. He has dressed right and had a no apparent injuries. The girl on the back in shorts and a tank top was covered with road rash an had a few extra corners in her legs and arms. Not pretty. Lets face it. Regardless of the free feeling you get from flying down the open road, if $h!t goes south on you, you are nothing more than an unrestrained driver ejected from your vehicle. Sorry to be a buzz kill. I would just like to smack someone in the head with reality before the pavement does it. |
