Haven't been around long as some of the old timers... I know with my Z28 group we did group purchases on mods.. But has badweb done group purchases?? (hint...hint...sponsors) Please sponsors don't take this suggestion/idea wrong (we are more than grateful for your discounts and support).. Just expanding on Court's idea... "Imagine, of all the things we enjoy, the buying power we wield *IF* we organize it properly." I am sure the sponsors would love to have order for 20 (or 60) "enter part name here"... -Greg |

We need the sponsors to put out an offer, that's what they do on the Element board and then the Moderator posts the offer. |

Only problem I have ever ran into with mass buys is that sometimes it takes a while to get your parts. Mainly on parts that the vendor actually has to fabricate at their shop. For example..It took almost 3 months for me to receive an inboard shock hoop for my truck b/c the mass buy really was mass. So not only did the guy have to keep up with normal buyers but he also had to spend the extra time to knock out 25 extra ones. What about oil? |

Several ideas would be: common items that get broken (pegs, belts) maintenance items (spark plugs, oil change kits) riding equipment (helmets, leathers) upgrades (race kits, exhaust, tires) On maintenance items make DYI kits. Everything needed to preform scheduled maintenance. Maybe, the BRAG group could get together and make a request for items. Then during their monthly/weekly meeting they can get together and have a group install of the group purchases. A BRAG Mod night with a dedicated Badwebber to photo document the install to post on Badweb for other Badwebbers. -Greg (Message edited by gjmcmanus on June 16, 2005) |

Herding cats: Perhaps a packaged kit, shipped when all parts are assembled, like maybe an XB rocker cover assembly kit for the 'tuber owners. Gaskets, rocker covers, pcv, other parts including bolt plugs if necessary. The covers are rarely in stock so I haven't bothered to order the component parts since this would be a "like to do" thing as opposed to a "need to do thing". Just a thought. (having a deja vu episode since I could have sworn I typed this suggestion in already a day or three ago.) |

Mike, ever the harbinger of wisdom, is once again on the right track...it is a "herding cats" exercise. Let me suggest that, for the time, this conversation be viewed not as a vehicle to provide a definitive "answer", but rather as a source of discussion about possibilities. Lively discussion spawns some great things. Court |

also, we've gotta keep in mind that most dealers are "for profit" deals ( or wish to be) turn on your inventory is a key measure, yes? |

I think it was Bomber who first suggested the cat herding theme above. I've netted a few in years past while helping at an animal shelter, very thankfully the shelter provided nearly claw-proof gloves. A few years ago Hal's had a rummage/sidewalk sale, and in it was quite a collection of various Buell parts heavily discounted. Along the lines of a group buy it might be interesting to find out what the various dealerships have collecting dust in long-unopened boxes in the back corners of their shops. Might be something else to consider.

OKay, maybe not at Daves and Clowns shops, but I do know that they are several HD/Buell dealerships that basically drive customers away. I am *SURE* that they have a surplus of parts.. Too bad Daves and Clown couldn't get the inventory from dealers that are not surporting/selling Buells anymore.. *HINT, HINT* Buell as a company needs to get the inventory to the dealerships that do care. And not those "so called Buell dealerships" that don't give a crap. Please Daves and Clown like I said in my original post.. We Badwebbers are more than grateful for your sponsorship and dedication. Just trying to it make a win-win for everyone.. |

My list (for the XBs): -Race ECMS -Frame pucks -Fork/swing arm sliders -maintenance kit (filter, oils, plugs etc) (not the most feasible) For next spring, how about a tire dealio? Pick a particular set of tires, there's got to be a discount of some sort if you're ordering 50ish sets at a time. Don't know if a dealership or Al or whoever could pull it, but I think that would be a GREAT spring group buy for everyone. The whole surplus inventory thing, I've bought a ton of stuff that I know I'll never use a dealership clearance racks, knowing that someone will need it eventually. Mom and pop aren't happy about it though, a good portion of their basement is Buell stuff, let alone my M2 residing in the 1 car garage... Keep the ideas coming, I am more than sure one of the sponsors will be able to do something. Alex |

OK...here is MY thought and Blake help me with the numbers here. I think the last time we did this(calendars) not everyone did/purchased what they said they were going to.(I could be wrong) I think there was some profit to support the racers but are there still not extra calendars taking up space at your place Blake? I would really hate for one of the sponsors to do a group purchase and not be able to get rid of what they ordered. But, my vote would match that of awprior. Shawn |

Maybe if the BRAG groups kind of took charge and did mod night or something like that. I am (pretty) sure if one of BRAG groups came up with a group purchase for their group, Daves or Clown would be willing to help. This might help with people backing out and leaving the sponsors hanging. Just an other idea from the cat herder.. |

I think a tire deal would be good. However we all know tires are like ice cream, everyone likes a different flavor. So to do a tire deal we would have to seek out a dealer,(retail or wholesale), who would cut us a deal on the volume we buy, not just one brand. This might help with supplying everyone in a timely manor. |
