How loud is the fuel pump on your XB? I don't know if mine is getting louder or I just noticed it and it just SEEMS to be louder. I can hear it over the engine noise at idle (stock exhaust). Thanks, Bill |

It's there if you're listening for it but otherwise you'd never notice. It always goes 'skrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrreeeeeeeeow' when I switch on |

I can hear mine over a modified exhaust. I think it's normal. |

I sometimes think the fan is running ... turns out it was the fuel pump. |

Normal, then. Thanks guys. I did about 250 miles this weekend and have discovered, for the 10th time, that earplugs make the ride so much better. By the way, my wife did about 100 miles with me on Sunday, and had a good time. I think she's hooked. Bill |

Mine varies. Some days it's loud others it not. |

Mine seems awful loud too. I cannot really tell the difference, but someone before said it got louder as the fuel level went down. Maybe the composition of the frame amplifies the noise Has anyone ever had to replace the fuel pump? I would have to check my manual, but I think it says you have to remove the swingarm to do it...for clearance purposes. |

I had mine changed under warranty by my dealer. The pump was leaking and discoloring the pipe. The leaky pump was not loud at all, but the new one whines all the time. I guess it's normal. |

Whenever I really start to notice mine whining is when I am low on gas. Soon as I fill it up I don't really notice untill it gets low again. |

It's starting to sound like we have an audible fuel gauge. Those engineers at buell never cease to impress me. |
