I finally got to take my XB9 out for a good shagging yesterday. I just returned from a 4800 mile, 9 day ride on my FJR so I haven't haven't been able to log much seat time on my XB. We bonded yesterday. LOL I bought it a couple of months ago with 155 miles on it. I had some electrical problems. The dealer replaced the stator, voltage regulator, etc. and I installed the race kit upon their return delivery of the bike to me. I installed the kit myself and had the TPS reset by a local dealer. The bike seemed to run much better. What I noticed yesterday: heading into the wind, bike in top gear, tach reading around 3700. I would roll the throttle wide open and it would seem to hit a wall at 4000 rpms. If I let off on the throttle just slightly it would continue to accelerate. I was able to duplicate this on demand. It did seem to do the same in 4th gear, but not as pronounced since the motor was spooling up through and past 4K. I rolled into the dealer that did the TPS reset and had not one, but two of their techs take it for a spin. They told me that it was because of the gearing (stock) and that I should just downshift a gear. This sounds like BS to me. I don't believe the bike should balk when opened up under 4K rpms. Anyone else notice this? The bike has about 1200 miles on it, Buell race can, ECM, and filter. Thanks guys/gals. |

Before all my issues, my bike did it to. I have no Idea how to explain this either, I have my thoughts, but im no genius. I thought for the longest time it was the stock exhaust because of the snake it does inside the stock muffler. But after trying other exhaust I still get the same affect. Mine seems to accelerate faster when I let off a little as well...DOesnt make sense I know, but when it hits that wall, you back off, and it picks up. I know what you meen there, so anyways, not sure...Thats a good one |

my 03 never did that i just kept pulling and pulling as i kept rolling on the juice. not trying to make things confusing but i would look more into the issue for sure. |

I agree, it should have a pretty good response at 3700 ,even in 5th. It shouldnt lag. Does it cruise ok at 4000? Pretty hard to diagnose... it could be anything from a intake leak ,bad plugs.. or the good ol Tps. |

It cruises just fine at any rpm. The first thing I thought of was a TPS issue. The tech did not even look into that. I KNOW it's not supposed to do this. |

Sounds like it's adding to much fuell at that point, the map is off. I can't believe the dealer told you that. That is definatly not normal. |

Mine was doing the same thing. Dealer reset the TPS and reset something to do with the fuel pump pressure. I am not sure what that setting is called. It seems to be running good now. |
