Hi All -

Can anyone give me a step-by-step on how to replace the headlight bulbs on an XB12s? I don't have the service manual yet. It looks like a simple matter of removing the bolt on the bottom of the headlight bezel, rotating up the housing and then slipping the rubber boot off the back of the housing. Is this correct?

The bolt on the bottom of the headlight bezel looks like it could strip really easily.

Has anyone done a comparison of the Silver Star bulbs vs. Piaa Xtreme Whites? The specs looks very similar, but the Piaas are twice the price.

Thanks for the help and knowledge.

You may have to take off the front wind screen too. Just 4 screws.

Thanks for the response; is the procedure I've laid out correct? Have you changed-out your stock bulbs?

I took the fly screen off just for kicks, but it doesn't give me access to the bulbs.

A whole lot easier if you remove the wind screen, it will give you more clearence. The rest you have right on. Might want to get your self a #194 bulb also and stick in the small boot in between the two headlights. I stuck a yellow in there, others have used other colors though. As far as the light comparison, I use the Silver Star's myself, they are very good lights for the price.

Great idea, thanks. My only issue now is removing that bottom bolt on the headlight bezel without stripping it. Do I use the t27 torx that came with the tool bag?

I'll probably try the Silver Stars and see how they work out. Like I said, the specs are on par with the Piaas for about half the price.

Mine has been removed several times, never a problem. Remeber to loosen the two side mount bolts just a bit. The torx wrench in your tool kit is the one. If it does strip, they are only a few bucks for a small bag of them(3-4)I believe. Good to order some just to have around.

Any problems PM me, it looks like rain this weekend, so I should be home.

I appreciate that.

It looks like rain here too, so I'll be in the garage this weekend instead of out-and-about. I may take you up on your offer if the bolt on the headlight bezel doesn't play nice.
