Yeah, my thought too about the magic marker but the case is sealed. I'll call them again tommorrow! (really not having much luck with parts lately!!) |

My mistake. The tip (which I couldnt see) is red, which does match the speedo. If I was going to order another one I have them make the whole needle red (like pic above) or black. Still gonna be a few weeks before the Blast is running again though. PS I do believe EZ is running the tach on a daily basis. |

What exactly do you want to know about the installation? PS My tach is all but installed. The wiring & mount are all set up, but when I hooked up the tach it blew the fuse. Its at Westach now being repaired (I hope). |

If you got the Screaming Eagle igniton, there is a wire for a tach coming right of of it. If not, the wiring directions are accurate as far as color. I tapped into the wires going into the speedo.Since I had the headlight assembly off, they were easy to get to. I used 'scotchlock' 3M type connectors (they clamp over the wire tapping into it-available at Radio Shack or like T-Taps at Pep Boys auto). The tach wire I ran up to the headlight, if not using SE ignition, you'll have to run a wire up from the coil. The directions are fairly simple, but it will depend on your ability to read wiring diagrams (got a manual?) & knowledge of electrics on how difficult it is. Let us know if you have any questions once you get started. PS Make sure the wires are hooked up correctly before you put ANY power to the unit or it could get fried! |

I got to check my harness diagram and look at my harness to my ignition - its wired directly in with a ground shared with my signals ground (the current front signal problem involves the red bike - for those that follow the total BADWEB - lol)and power tapped off the lights - lol - its either the yellow or orange wire into the ignition plug - I'm prepping for SLO and fixing that little wiring problem this weekend - so I'll check it out again and refresh my memory as well. I got the invoice from Westach and my tach is on its way back.Quick service! The reason I write is that they say I hooked up the white wire to power, when it should have been to ground (I gave them a detailed list of my hook up). I checked and re-checked the instructions and they are sending me a new set, so the old ones may be wrong.Or it was late and I screwed up! I'll keep you posted. PS They also painted my needle black, with a red tip, no charge! |

Got the tach on & it works. Black needle is a big improvement. It doesnt read accurate at redline.Ironically it reads 6800 when the rev limiter kicks in, set at 7500 rpm. I believe the rev limiter is correct as it will just hit 40mph before cut out. (I dont believe 6800 rpm is at 40mph, at least I dont remember ever getting it that fast in first gear before). |

Mines true at idle. I guess its off 100 rpm for every 1000rpm or 10%. We'll see at SLO! |

Why not - if it works - well then there would be n alternative - though a rather large one - lol - still if mounted up and to the side - could work - be a tight fit, but with the Cafe style fairing there would be room for both - if it works - let me know - I'd put it on the red. Good luck! GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

OK, so no one is going to be first with the JC Whitney tach, eh? On the Westach tachometer, with original ignition module, where did you get your signal? From the pink wire going from the ignition module to the coil? Or elsewhere? Physically where? Near the coil? the module? or in between? Any adjustments to the tach for the Blast ? (I assume the Blast does 1 spark for every 4 revolutions....) I'd like to get this square in my head before buying the tach and billet dash...... |

Yes,1 spark for every compression stroke, there is no wasted spark like on a twin. There is no adjustment for the Westech tach. I was going to tap in at pink wire at the coil, but decided to use the Screamin Eagle ign module and use the tach wire from that. There will probably be a 6 week wait for your tach from Westech after you place your order. |

I ordered. He said $155 (augh!) and 3 weeks. I was expecting around $70. Now if the billet dash guy would just put another on eBay. His last 2 ended before I decided to order the Westach. |

Are there any other parts to buy to secure the tach in the billet dash? |

E-mail the billet guy. I'm sure he'll post another one. There are no additional parts, but you may wish to use your own style of mounting. I used a rubber ring to hold the tach in place (actually it fits quite snug without any hold down). I modified the stock speedo housing for a clean and rain tight mount using a Dremel. (as the Blast repair manual says) use Windex to slide the speedo and tach into place. 3 weeks is a lot faster than I got mine! Did you order the light kit? Also, you may want to ask them to paint the needle black with a red tip as it comes clear with a red tip and I found it hard to read that way.(The case is sealed, so you cant paint it later). |

I did send the billet guy an E-mail through eBay (the only way I know to get him) with no response. I think he only sold 1 of 2 so there should be another. I E-mailed Pete at Westach about the needle and the light kit. What kind of rubber ring did you use on the tach. I'd feel better hading something fastening it is because of the vibrations.... Thanks. |

The e-mail I have is logicscout@aol.com but I'm sure one will go up on ebay before you get your tach if he doesnt respond. The tach billet dash comes with a rubber ring (vacuum tubing really-a nice fit)to hold the tach on the front side. I just used larger vacuum tubing on the backside with a zip tie through the hole to hold it on (zip tie hidden of course). |

I was under the impression that they made them themselves. Maybe they're out of billet? The link EZ posted should be easy to do and last until they make more dashes. Dont forget to do an ebay search that will let you know when another becomes available! |

My Westach should arrive by the end of the month. (I got an invoice stating ship date of 6/25.) Even though I want to do the 2 hole dash, I may have to go with the cup, since the dashs seems to be unavailable. Unless someone bought a spare they want to sell...... |
