I am planning to install an speedometer from a different bike but same year/model Cyclone. Is the new speedometer going to carry the miles from the donor bike? if so, how can I adjust the miles to match the receiver's bike original mileage? Thanks in advance, -C |

Chil The new speedo will carry over the milage it has on it (as you say, from the donor bike) -- I BELIEVE (note emphasis) that you can get (or used to be able to get) a speedo from the factory adjust to your milage if your's went belly up, so it's possible to set the clock to the right milage, but something tells me they havn't published the method (for clear and obvious reasons) |

it will have the mileage of the bike that its on..... the miles goes with the spedo, not the bike |

When I put a new (from the dealer) speedo on my bike (they installed all under warranty) they said they would get the milage set to what my old one died at. I was really surprised when I go the bike back and it said 00001. The dealership said they got the wrong speedo (which I liked better anyway) and not to worry about the milage. If you swap speedo's you are supposed to disclose it anyway if if the milage is reset I believe. As far as I know, even the dealer cannot reset the milage, it must be sent back to the factory. |

Ditto Koz. I have an S1 which has a mech speedo. Those obviously carry the mileage over from the donor. I bought a new one from the factory because I know that it is illegal to tamper with an odometer and only the factory can reset it. I disclosed my mileage when I ordered it, but it still said '000000' when I picked it up. |

if ordering from the factory, mechanical, or digital, they should come with the correct miles that you order it with........ that is the only "legal" way to do it.... |

I think the only "legal" way for a company to sell a speedo is for it to read 0. I have purchased 5 for harleys, Buells and 1 bmw and they all came with 0 miles showing. the dealers all took down the current mileage before replacing under warrant, so I am suspicious that there is a databse out there with true mileage by VIN> |
