Sorry Walt probably something you don't want to talk about right now.. Atleast you were there and good job flying the colors for us!!! Pikes Peak. I see Dave Ebben finished 20th in FX on a Buell. |

Sorry to hear you broke Walt. I saw you on the track, but I looked all over for you in the pits and couldn't find you. I will try harder next year to find you. Good luck in the next race. Matt |

I was kinda bummed to see only the one Buell out there but Dave did a good job and made some nice passes. Sorry Walt didn't race. Man Dave's bike was loud. You could hear him everywhere on the track. It was cool. I bet the other guys hate it when he passes them and their ears start bleeding. Got home early enough to catch the last race on Speed that I was just at. I got to see the last lap pass that I missed while at the track attending to my 4yr olds distractions. BTW: The Buell Demo truck was out there and seemed to have a good turn out of test riders. Aprilia had demo rides also. |

Thanks guys. I chased two problems on the day. The first problem was the bike would lose electrical power at random during the first practice. This would cause the fuel map to jump around also. This seriously effected my progress (and laptimes) in the morning session. After getting that problem fixed I thought we were going to be in great shape for qualifying. Almost immediately the bike started to slide HUGE in every left hander (which there are a lot of) and my foot started slipping on the left peg. I knew it was putting some oil down so I tried to make a few laps in hopes they would be good enough to get in the field so I could fix it that night. However, it was not to be. I fell short by about 4 tenths of a second. The oil turned out to be coming from the primary tensioning shoe loosening up. Here's a tip for trackday riders and racers: safety wire the jam nut! Well, it's on to Summit Point this weekend. Hopefully I'll be able to make some of the BadWeb money at Mid-Ohio in July. Later, Walt www.waltsipp.com |
