Sorry EZ, but I'm not saying every non Buell/HD part will fail or need maintenance, just that every non stock part put on your bike will have a greater risk of failure (or non fitting)especially if its not OEM.Thats also why some parts are labeled 'race only'. They will not stand up to day to day use. I use the WB as an example only, but it holds true for every exhaust that need repacking.Thats maintenance that will lead to failure if not done. Is this horse dead yet? |

question..you seem to be the guys to ask. I was looking at an exhaust on ebay for a blast. It does not have the clamp on top of it to attach it to the bike. The ad/description of the pipe says just transfer clamps to your new exhaust from the old one. How do you do that? I cant think of anyway to get that clamp off of there. Any suggestions? |

Its just a circ-clip - use a pair of needlenose to pry it off and reverse the process to put on the bub - its self evedent when you see the stocker off the bike - the Bub is probably the easiest to mount - don't forget to jet (45/175)! Also an Iridium plug does make a world of difference as well and does a more complete burn. The stock plug after the the rebuild came off as very dark brown - still ok but richer in color than the Iridium that I had pulled and checked - which came off a perfect dark tan. I really like my Bub - even after all these years - it just keeps on roaring along and for bottom to mid it can't be beat - only if you where to start building your engine internally for more power and adding a different ignition as well - then I would recommend a different exhaust to better take advantage of potential hp, but the Bub will deliver all the torque your motor can give! while on the topic of the BUB .. I think i read somewhere that the older BUB had a bigger headpipe? as far as diameter i think,....i might have dreamt it but if not i was wondering what the diff in size was and if it makes any difference? |

Research has shown this not to be the case - the differences lays in the 1st bracket weld location. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

...and pipe diameter does make a difference, though not much in a stock motor (mostly powerband placement). IMPORTANT SAFETY TIP:WEAR SAFETY GLASSES when removing the exhaust circlip. Though they seem to take a lot of abuse, inexperience and the wrong tools can cause them to break (and fly). The clamp and circlip are the same as a Sportster so it might be easier to get a new set to avoid the hassle later when switching exhausts. |

ok heres the situation. I have a v&h exhaust and pipe. I am tired of the crappy looking pipe that wont shine up, and is starting to pit, along with the mounting bracket. I have a friend with a sand blaster, that is going to let me use. I am going to blast my pipe, bracket, and clamp to the engine. I want to paint it flat black to match the engine, any sugestions on paint to use would be apreciated. |

I got the Bub installed last night, but I haven't completed the re-jet yet. Holy LOUD pipe, Batman! I'm going to be running a K&N drop in filter and was planning on the standard 45/175 w/ -2.5 on the airscrew. On the stock jetting with the stock paper filter, last night I definatly felt a huge improvement in the midrange. I can ride comfortably at lower rpms without lugging. Had a cop follow me up a hill. Boy is it hard to use no more than 1/8 throttle (to keep the Bub from barking) and still appear to be accelerating normally up a hill. luckily there was a slow car in front of me and I took the next turn. Maybe I'm just paranoid -- Looks like I'll have to stick to the open country now. I'll get some pictures up soon. I'm super impressed with the quality of this pipe. It seems to be built very well. |

Go to 2 3/4 turns out on the air screw (both the Bub and WB seemed to like this setting better) - yea its stout - all I've ever done to mine is paint it with ceramic hi temp flat black paint - otherwise it will probably roar forever - yeah - keep the stocker - if you get a ticket - take 15 min to uninstall bub and install loosely the stocker - go get it signed off - and switch it back out - been there and done that - with a policestation 5 min. away to turn the ticket into 5 bucks spent - life is good - lol - still its only happened once and I've only got one warning since about not cranking it up to much in the city - lol - so don't stress it too much - a big twin with drag pipes is still louder, but you are now always garrenteed to turn heads with but the twist of a wrist! The funniest time that happened to me was waking up some bum on the bench who cursed - "Fing Harley!" - and then look with puzzlement upon the Black Blast flashing past! - Enjoy and get that puppy jetted, and the Iridium plug will make a difference, and does the pro-series intake with a stack filter instead of that troublesome heavy filter pod - lol GT - JBOTDS! http://www.outerwears.com/index.taf These are the MFGR - definately the place to go - retail is 4 times as much at other sites that sell their product - filters to 0.05" - good enough for me - and I just keep clean - no biggie to me - becomes part of the weekly cleaning ritual - not the prefilters which only filter to 0.5" but the finner weave full filter cloth - no impedience measured on a dyno - you go through about 1 a year - maybe, but they are relatively inexpensive - I bought 12 the first time not knowing their durability - still have 5 left - gave a few away and 2 to Scott - upkeep is not hard on them though - written on the package - clean and gentle blow dry - lol - breathing is maximized - search with the word stack only - they now sell them in a pack of 4 (old stock number for singles was B-15)for even less - so I'm not complaining - enough for 2 to 3 years minimum per bike - inexpensive yet truely good enough for a CV40 - lol GT - JBOTDS! Well came home today and Jardine sent me a new exhaust pipe, no additional charge. The replaced the unit that had the cracked mount tab that was welded on the pipe. Wonder if this one will hold up any better. Well at least they replaced the unit and the turn around was quick. |

Nice. They should have received mine Friday, sent Travis an email today and he told me he hadn't seen it. I'm waiting to see if they are sending me a new one, I'm pretty sure yes. I'm thinking I'll sell that POS on EBAY and get a pro-series pipe. |

Did you try a 2005 sportster? 2001 was still the old style head, 2005 have the XB style head - which uses the same nut as the Blast. GT - JBOTDS! EZ (Message edited by ezblast on June 15, 2005) |

So i finally got my BUB put on the blast..its taken a while to get the plan out of my head and onto my bike..but its on there now! I am 100% pleased with my choice of BUB. It sounds like a much "bigger" bike now and i love loud bikes. I can also tell a huge difference in the way it rides..and all together pleasant experience is what i would call my BUB |

I've really been enjoying my bub too. Except for the fact that I hit a minnesota pot-hole and bottomed out with it... It has a big dent it the megaphone now - but you can't see it without lying on the ground, and the pipe took it really well - no cracks or anything. Just a little rash. Now I have more ground clearance. |

Does anyone have a p/n for the exhaust port gasket? Does this cross-reference with a Harley part number? I picked up my front engine isolator today, then looked in the manual and saw that I have to remove the exhaust system to replace it! I was on the road and stopped in at a Buell dealership for the part, the dealership near me only sells HD stuff now, hoping I could pick something up there. BTW, does anyone have/know of a fairly cheap aftermarket exhaust for sale for a Blast? |
