I desnorkeled my otherwise stock 2003 xb9s, rode for a while trying to maintain 3k rpm. the trouble is that when I accelerate hard, more than half throttle, the bike will buck and missfire, twice it lost power and stalled, backfiring very loudly. started right back up. anyone have any advice. Thanx, Dave |

TPS reset? |

Should not need to reset TPS, but the stock ECM expects the snorkel. I don't know how much help you would get without also having the race filter, and the race ECM. So short of that, just put the snorkle back in, and see if it gets better. I have done all the mods, and while it does pull harder all over, it's not a day and night difference. The bike runs very well stock, and the race kit is very well designed to have all the parts work together. I would stay all stock, or move to the full race kit. Don't feel bad about leaving it stock. You spend a lot of money on the race kit for a small percentage improvement in power. |

One of my sparkplugs was a 1/4 turn loose and had the same symptoms. Mine only did it when it was just short of the fan coming on. |

Sounds as if running much too lean. Did you accidently hit the velocity stack and the engine now gets some leak air (??? right word?). Although not necessary, I would do a tps reset too, just to exclude this source of error. Regards, Gunter |

I wouldn't think it's just removing the snorkel. My 12r has been running great for over a year with just the race filter & the snorkel removed as the only mods. |

I will have to try reinstalling the snorkel and see how it runs. If Dave S is looking at this thread, how much is the race kit for my bike? |

You might want to just give it more time and give the ECM more opportunity to learn the new setup as well. |

Did you pull the bottom airbox cover? If so make sure that you pluged the intake air temp sensor back in. |

Dave - I'd be very hard pressed to believe that removing the snorkel would cause that. What else might you have inadvertently bumped or moved or disconnected when removing it? |

Thanks for the input, I never removed the lower section of the air box, just removed the outer cover and top air box cover then pulled the snorkel out. Dave |
