on the nose norris. People don't get it when I tell them it's as easy to make 10 as it is to make one. Even manual machining. Everyone wants something for nothing. They assume they are just paying for my time. That is not the case, they are paying for experience. Time on the job, and time on a particular machine makes a difference. But you know that. Set-up time kills you, but once you have the machine set up for a process you can crank that process out. |

Thank you Mike. You said it much more politely than what I was thinking. We are getting $70/hr for our CNC work. Our last Mazak machining center cost $110,000 tooled up not to mention the other 3 machining centers, 5 CNC lathes, 2 wire EDM machines and complete manual machine shop with I forgot how many lathes and mills. Then there's the 25 employees with health insurance and benefits. NOTHING costs $10, not even one 1/2" end mill. |

let me rephrase then, once everything is setup its not that expensive to make all the intial costs are part of starting a business and designing a part if all that is true then the price should go down not up with production i guess i should of kept my mouth shut and just pay what ever the price i have gotten parts made for next to nothing by someone that already has the equipment excuses are like a**holes everybody has one and they all stink later, ron |

Hey Ronlv SuP... "if all that is true then the price should go down not up with production" Yes this is true,But only afterwards one has Sold enough items(products)To make a break even situation, Time involved, material Costs, overhead HAhah How many Thousands here guys , etc.etc and a decent hourly wage ,Only after this stage wd. price go down if it wd.at all anyways as , material costs go Up, labour costs, and Most important the old famous Supply AND Demand, as we all know how that controls the market place Correct???/ LoL |

"Ok, now you want to know why you saw a part for 10. bucks somewhere. Labor rate in china is .56cents an hour and the part was no machined from a solid piece of aluminum, thats what billet is, solid. It was a poured, cast molded part. And cast parts are brittle from all the voids in the part, caused by air pockets and impurities. And they are not close tolerance parts. You might say very cheap parts." Sounds like my footpegs, made in taiwan, and cast full of air bubbles. |

Yeah, I know what you mean Fullpower. Mine "fell" over while in Florida at bikeweek. Snapped the right footpeg clean off. My buddy felt bad for doing it, so we went straight up to Daytona HD and he bought me a new set. Funny part is, when we got back, I broke the seat cowl on his Ninja and "had" to buy him a new one. Even trade I guess. hehe. Rich |
