Im going to try and get a price on these items and then see if I can find a fan that will fit, also if someone here has the kit and can post the name of the maker of the fan and any specs of it like model number that would be cool. Im sure I can find a cheaper place to buy this or another fan than the dealer. Works great, I have it wired to a toggle switch on my dash and it keeps my right leg very warm!!! You can also put one to the left in the triangle to blow through the cylinders. |

A fan on the rear cyl is great but wont the overheat funtion in the ecm help that enough i dont know. I like the idea of cooling the intake more though cause the cooler that is the cooler its going to make the top end. HEh its funny I am just reminded by a small attempt of mine to make some air ducting to blow onto my intake manifold 10 years ago for my panhead but we all lose track of things sometime dont we lol |

Uhhhhh whats a ECM??? I run a Dyna 2000i digital ignition in the timing cover. |

I have the factory cooling fan on both an S3T & X1, and it does work nicely. It works off a thermostat on the front rocker box top. I know it's pricey, but I figure it was worth it. They both really move air through the cylinders nicely. |

I thought the factory fan kit was a rip off to be honest. It was convenient at any rate but there were no instructions included. If you buy the factory kit write to Charlie at orders@suburbanharley.com as they sell the kit on line for like $30 less than any other dealer. Besides, Charlie is a great guy and helped me a lot, tell him Denis sent you. I could have made the same kit for under $50. The best part of the kit is the thermo switch. I put mine on the rear cylinder for two reasons. First I feel the rear cylinder runs hotter and therefore the fan will turn on at a lower average engine temp. Second, the wires were too short by several inches to fit the switch to the front cylinder. If I had to do it over I would buy the switch and bracket from Harley and wire in a 12vDC computer fan. I was riding it in stop and go 90 degree weather yesterday and it was not cranky at all, no pinging when leaving stop lights so the system does work. The hardest part by far for me was where to mount the horn. It just did not seem to fit without hitting the scoop and I tightened it too much and damped the sound. I bought a truck horn and am now more obnoxious than ever. Good Luck, BTW the switch does not fit on the XB rocker covers and we need to find out how the fan switch mounts on the XB type bikes for the rocker cover/PCV/puking conversion. Den 99X1 |
