Does anyone know if there would be any issues with using the handlebars from a Lightning XB9S on a Blast ? I like the looks of these bars . They don't seem to be as straight across as some I have seen being used by guys on this forum . |

They are fine - use them if you want - superbike bars are roughly the same height and a lot less though. GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Thats them! Comfortable & bolt right on! They are essentially the same thing as when I had my fully adjustable Laverda bars on and adjusted them to that configuration for long distance comfort. The black is good quality for $12! |

OK - they don't look like the same shape on your red bike in the pic. Black would look good on a black Blast. What do you find is the biggest difference in running those bars? Also - where did you get the chrome cover ( is that the crank case)on your engine??? I didn't see that before. |

Thats the timing/cam case cover - you can get at any HD shop for a twin two holes - screws are extra - lol - the superbike bars being less agressive than clip-ons but much more than stock, are very comfortable - especially for the long hauls - though I prefer my 1 1/12" lower clipons - that is only because they are infinately adjustable - for the price though you can't beat the superbike bars and the more upright position in the city is perfect for better keeping track of the stuff around you, while low enough to have fun in the twisties! So I am thinking of ordering the black superbike bars for my Blast. Any issues with changing them regarding the cable length or anything else or is a a simple swap? Also what is the best way to remove the grips and reinstall? Any pointers appreciated. Thanks |

When you un-bolt the controls, the come apart into halves, releasing the grips I believe.... |

The grips - themselves are glued on - cut them off and buy new ones - between 5 to 20 bucks max usually - GT - JBOTDS! EZ |

Can't go wrong with the traction grips. About $17, look good, feel good. Of course, you could try the $80 "Torque" grips, they say "Buell" on them, have a Pegasus, everything. You'd be the only one sporting those, I'm sure. lol... |

If you really want to re-use your grips, you can usually remove them by blasting compressed air between the bar and the grip at the inboard end of the grip, or into the opposite end of the handlebar or throttle barrel. The grips should expand enough to break the glue bond and let you work them off. rt |

So, you are referring to the left hand grip? The right one rotates. (My service manual mentions this not at all.) |

Dusty: Yes, the left one is glued to the bar. The right one is glued to a plastic "barrel" that rotates on the bar. The same compressed air trick will work on both, the idea is to get the air in between the rubber and whatever it's glued to. That will loosen it up enough for you to work it loose. rt |

I believe I got the traction grips from Dave at Appleton and my right grip came with the plastic barrell. If you are puttin' new bars on, its kinda ghetto to use the old grips (IMHO). But do what u gotta do tho. jd |

With my new CityX bars, I ordered some traction grips as well. I'll leave the old grips on the old bar for when my wife takes the Blast from me. |
