I did read somewhere that it's better to ride it hard for breakin. It helps to seat the piston rings properly, SERIOUSLY. |

They also say not to use synthetic oil during breakin, it's too slick for the rings to smooth against the cylinder. |

One thing you are not concidering when your doing that break in method...break in is not just for the rings and cylinders. Its also for all the bearings, the gears, the clutch, the oil pump...get the picture? AS to the synthetic being too slippery, that is a whole nother ball of wax. I know one magazine tried to do a proper test only to find out the engine builder built one set of engines to the close end of the tolerences and the other set of engines to the loose side and felt it invalidated the testing. To my knowledge that has not actually been proven in side by side testing. |

Buell12hundo, I never said to use that method, merely pointed the way to the web site. I will not vouch for the validity of the findings. I was just trying to help a badwebber in their search for knowlege. |

Easy for someone to say who has nothing at risk. If the motors would be better of being broken in "hard", don't you think the manufacturers would recommend it?!!! Oh, I get it, it's a conspiracy by the oil industry who pay off the manufacturers! |

Seating rings and breaking in a brand new bike are two different things. If I did a top end job on an already broken in motorcycle, I'd feel comfortable using the engine hard right after a judicious warm-up. |
