On a less then pleasant note, did anyone hear what the city of Shawnee is trying to pull? They want to be able to give you a ticket for $400 dollars for install after market exhaust on your motorcycle. That includes alterations to your stock exhaust. If this bill passes, anyone caught riding with exhaust other than stock and/or louder than stock could be ticketed. Central, AlterEgo, and Shawee Cycle have joined together against this, You are asked to sign a patistion at one of these location, and it's my understanding there is going to be a community form we all can attend to make your voice heard. I should be able to have more info for all of you Monday morning... It is also come to my attention that Lenexa will attempt to pass similar bills, if the one in Shawnee is accepted. |

Zhdman - contact the AMA about that. They have a political lobbying arm just for motorcycle laws. If you can't/don't/won't - point me to am on-line source that tells of this and I'll contact them. How soon does this go to vote? |

Hey Sam, it's a go on the belt. Let me know when I could swing by with the cash. Blktye, I could make the run up to Weston sometime this week to pick up the spreader if that's cool. |

Here is the jist of the flier up at work. If you don't want a fine for riding your motorcycle through Shawnee-you need to show up Tuesday, May 17, or make 3 phone calls. Ride any motorcycle---and give a silent show of force. Stand up for your freedom: Weenie Ride to Shawnee City Hall Tuesday, May 17,2005 5 to 6pm Rally at Shawnee Cycle Plaza 13010 Shawnee Mission Parkway Enjoy free refreshments 6:15pm Road Rally to Shawnee City Hall 11100 Johnson Drive 7 to 7:30pm Listen politely as speakers tell the Shawnee City Council to VOTE NO on a proposedMOTORCYCLE NOISE ORDINANCE That could ticket you $400 a day for upgrading from your factory muffler! Can't make it? Call at least three people. Any Shawnee Councilman or Mayor Jeff Meyers. Mayor: Jeff Meyers @ (913)268-5133 Ward 1an Pflumm @ (913)631-6203 Ward 2:Frank Goode @ (913)631-8747 Ward 3awn Kuhn @ (913)422-9428 Ward 4:Mickey Sandifer @ (913)205-7788 Ward 5:Cheryl Scott @ (913)631-6504 Ward 6:Neal Sawyer @ (913)631-8853 Ward 7:Mike Novosel@ (913)441-0025 Ward 8:Kevin Tubbesing @(913)562-5644 The author of the flier also wanted to EMPHASIZE being POLITE when you call, because the above Phone Numbers are home phones and cell phones. Suggestions: 1)Tolerance of others. We don't ticket babies for crying in restaurants. 2)Safety: "Loud pipes save lives." They alert distracted drivers who have "deaf spots"and/or blind spots. 3)Free enterprise and non-discrimination: We don't ticket cars or trucks with new mufflers. 4)Economic Impact:Cost to convert an up graded cycle back to original would cost a $1000 dollars more (in most cases) per cycle. |

At the Primary officer training the CEO of H-D talked to the group about their concern for the motorcycling community and the increased awareness in the media about loud motorcycles. They spoke of local laws like this one being passed by communities that are tired of excessive noise from motorcycles. It seems H-D is very concerned about how this could affect their business in the future. One argument against a local law is that there is already federal laws in place due to the EPA, so there is really no need for a new local law that will do the same thing. |

Hey if any of you guys call the above number you can skip Frank Goode! He doesn't support the above ordinance, where we will be fined $400, and forced to change our exhaust. He said that he does support common sense, for example when somebody's running threw town at 3 in the morning with loud exhaust, but he thinks this ordinance will never pass. I called the mayor, and Dan Pflumn and left messages for both. Peace out JJ. |

Hey I am new to the board. And I have got to say this board ROCKS !!! But I am needing a new rear tire, and I am wondering where I can get my hands on a affordable tire. I did get a price from central HD for $135. Is that reasonable ? |

Welcome aboard Dave, that's about an average price for a tire. However, you can get em' cheaper if you order on-line...Tim or JJ where you guys order your tires? You need to meet up with us for the Friday night ride, or for a weeknight bike night ride. |

Ya you should come ride with us on Friday night. Ask Zeus if that has free mounting or what the extra cost would be, if that includes mounting and balanceing then that is a smokin deal. |

It's my fault Pele3 didn't ride Friday. He's my neighbor and I forgot to ask. Plus, that tire is looking pretty bad! Blktye - Your work would definitely be easier. Shazam lives close by and he may have access to one, so I'll let you know tomorrow if I still need it. Shoot me an email off my profile with your number and I'll give you a call. Pele3 Ride direct has pretty good prices. Although if Zues states the $135 mounted is the price, i'd go with that. |

If any one wants to ride up to the Shawnee City Council meeting tonight, meet me in front of Central at 6:00pm. Pele3, I'll double check that price when I get to work. Are you going to ride to bike up there, or are you planning to carry in the wheel? What does it take to "Split the Frame" on a tuber? Sounds painful! I'll see if thats something we have in the shop. |
