Saw someone wipe out a WRX STI on a freeway transition at about 110mph. Didn't even have the plates on it yet. But I know from experience that transition can be done on an XB9R at 110mph. They're great cars, but they are bred from rally stock. Completely different animal than a street racer. |

Let's get the facts straight. Nothing two wheeled will ever have the advantage over four wheels in a relative field. The Honda NSX is well know for its fantastic handling. Its suspension is engineered a little like a motorcycle swing arm for each wheel and in the NSX case constructed of aluminium, just like most motorcycles. Something else you should consider too when evaluating the prowess of the NSX handling. Honda employed a Mr Ayrton Senna to aid the design and set-up of the NSX handling. As far as I've ever read anywhere Senna didn't take to the task lightly. He put a lot of effort into getting it right which is why I suppose after more than 10 years it's still regarded by many experts in the field as one of the finest handling cars ever built. Subaru WRX Sorry but these just aren't my kinda cars. They're really popular over here and with all age groups. The younger generation finance their balls to the wall to own them and the elders justify them to the wife because they have four doors and four seats and are very practical when driven 'normal'. Still not my kinda car despite the very very rapid performance. My Maserati Biturbo with the 2800cc motor is rated at 250bhp. It's about on a par performance wise with a 1994 WRX is my guess based on the odd time I've diced with them. The later generation WRX's are easily 150mph plus performers which leaves my Mazza dead in the water. To put that into perspective our local police force run WRX's in their fast pursuit squad and they have them set-up first hand by the Subaru British rally team to keep them ahead of the road ragers in similar cars. The old adage applies here I guess is the cops thinking "if you can't beat 'em join 'em". Anyone that thinks a Subaru WRX is limited in its handling on any road is sorely mistaken. I have first hand experience of four wheel drifting one around a roundabout about 8 times just by throttle control alone. I can't think of any other car that would have got around that roundabout that fast and I've driven a lot of cars in anger and a lot of angry cars. Nsbuell, the teenager thing is a wise choice. Ta for the laugh Rocket |

The NSX is one badazz ride, that is for sure. We might be able to give one a run on a very tight road. Did you see a few years ago when one of the motorcycle mags did a face-off on the track between a Corvette and a liter sportbike (Yamahaz FZR, I think). The results surprised me...the bike could turn quicker lap times, but the 'Vette could hold more speed through the corners. Where the bike got ahead was being able to straighten up sooner after a corner, and better acceleration coming out of the corner. At the time, the car and bike had similar top speeds. The bike, or course, smashed the car in the 1/4-mile. Their analysis concluded that cornering speeds were directly related to how much rubber a vehicle has on the road (given adequate suspension components and design); a bike just can't compete with the four massive tires on today's supercars. Boy, some of these new members sure have a lot of balls. Lighten the hell up. Face the fact. There's more on the road that will smoke a Buell, top speed, than won't. |

There is a guy running around KC with a 70's model Ford Bronco, jacked up, nascar and performance stickers, real tree camo baseball cap, stone cold Steve Austin look, that will give any stock buell a run for its money stop light to stop light. Its pretty impressive, I hit second and pulled a fat wheelie, and after letting it down I looked right and the bronco was right next to me. So then I motioned for him to pull a wheelie. He chuckled and slowed down. |

Just one more story. I was driving my wife's subaru outback and the kid next to me on his Honda CBR600f2 (i think) kept revving his engine, so I did the same. After about three miles of freeway, I caught him (the speedo was past 130 on the Subie) and the poor kid looked over like he was gonna die. He tried to keep up but just couldn't (it seemed his bike was down on power). Just one of my favorite stories. |
