The last two tanks I've gotten 55 and 56 mpg on my 03 XB9S. I don't ride it real hard (rarely get over 5000 rpm) but about half the mileage is 3rd and 4th gear, up and down the Mt. Lemmon highway. I'm really pleasantly surprised! What kind of gas mileage are you guys getting? Tim |

You are so lucky to be living there, the riding must be great! |

On my trip last week, 1100 miles worth, I spent $38.00 on fuel, and averaged 57.8 mpg ( mix of roads, medium speeds on the twisties, but flat out flying on the interstate)...12R with drummer and race ecm |

You are so lucky to be living there, the riding must be great! ================================================ I've been here since 1996 and yes, it is beautiful but quite HOT in the summer - already it was 94 here today. The problem here is that after you've ridden the 3 or 4 good roads around Tucson, you have to travel 100+ plus miles to find more... I believe the 61 mpg - I think I could get that out on the highway, 65-70 mph. Tim |

I get about 100 miles before the fuel light kicks on So in stop and go commuter traffic that's 33mpg but then again, I only have 600 miles on it. |

Last Sunday's 100 mile ride (mostly in the rain, drat it ) took 1.7 gallons. 59 mpg. Cool! Overall my '03 XB9S has averaged 53 mpg from new to now. How do the XB12's fare? I think they do about as well from what I hear. |

I was afraid to tell anyone...thought they would think I was lying, but when I was breaking my XB9 in, I was figuring 66 and 67 MPG...mostly west Texas roads...no traffic or stops. I am in Korea now, and although I have stopped figuring the MPG, it still gets great gas mileage with over 5,000 miles now |

I believe you. I've never gotten less than 55 mpg on my S3, and have gotten as much as 67 at steady Interstate speeds. |

Hey Nevar, you do know we have a rider board for the AZ area listed in the storm fronts section of the boards right? =========================================== Yes. I've posted there a few times but the format is one long thread for every subject so the subjects are intermixed - hard to keep track of a question that I ask - and I had to turn off e-mail notification - too noisy. my xb12 really SUCKS up the gas, burned 25 gallons over the weekend. this really SUCKS.the sportster riding with us used 29 gallons, and the road king used 35 gallons. yep these long stroke air cooled engines sure do suck. Actually an air cooled long stroke twin is inherently more efficient than multicylinder liquid cooled designs. |

Hey Guys, I left killeen tx in route to san antonio friday. I filled up just before I left and crused 80-90 most of the way. Once I even hit 135 for a few seconds just to off redneck in a chevy truck do'in 80+ south of austin. My fuel light came on 21 miles before I hit the La quinta INN downtown. It's 150.3 miles from My driveway to the parking lot by Denny's next to La Quinta INN in san antonio.I also back in '94 finnished the first half of Mt. lemon Hwy from Palasades to Alpine village with new asphalt and drainage systems when I worked construction with Ames const.I owned a '93 ford splash electric blue ranger. I raced a 96 IROC down to Tanque' Verde' st. in 18min flat. No mods what so ever.HEE!HEE! |

I get different mileage...When I ride with the girlfriend, I get upwards of 60mpg. When I ride with some of the badweb 3%'ers, I get significantly less. YMMV
