Who can make one? Perhaps one of the sponsors and keep it kind of I`ll say inexpensive and not cheap made out of alliunmin or stainless steel is this possible??Excuse my spelling... Design and fit?? Keeping it all light as possible ??? How about Norris up for another project LoL I`ll test one out LoL No really Might be interested in one...I w`d like to get rid of that plastic one,and show the mechanics of it all underneath,seems a shame to hide all that under a hunk of plastic ... Something like an X design corner to corners or whatever .Wd. like to see all that is within as well , not cover much up! Hey Chris I've got so many projects going on, I’ll have to work on that one later on. I actually started that project a few months back, but it's on the back burner now. The main reason is, it will add weight, so most would prefer carbon fiber. But I still want one for my bike. I’ll keep you in the loop on the progress. I’ve got to get caught up enough so I can finish the nitrous bottle clamps, fixtures and breather lid for my bike. Should have worked today, but I took it off. I’ll be working about 14 hrs tomorrow trying get promised work out. Your package show up yet? LOL | ||

They are made completely from billet aluminium, including the front black part. The small allen head bolts you can see across the top hold the horizontal aluminium shield in place that runs along the top of the guard. | ||

trojan, nice, lets see a pic on bike why is everyone always trying to hit a homerun when pricing aftermarket parts for buell, i just dont understand (not directed only at you trojan) what would time and materials be to do a sprocket cover, less than 20 bucks each and they sell for over 100, makes me sick to me thats not buell support its just my stupid opinion, so nobody needs to get mad later, ron | ||

Let’s see if we can do a little figuring here. To make these guards this is what you’ll need. A decent CNC milling center $ 50,000.00 A decent CNC turning center $ 50,000.00 Tooling for both machines $2500.00 min Anywhere from 2000.00 to 20,000.00 for software. A minimum of four years on the job training before you stop destroying ••••. Ok, so now you got that far lets try to make some money making the part in question. And lets say your only making 20 bucks an hour. And at 20 an hour the bank will repo your machines, since you can’t make the payments. But anyway here we go. If every thing went perfect, est 6 hrs design time. $120.00 Material $10.00 Write the machine program. $ 20.00 write program and machine fixtures need $20.00 And did I mention if something breaks $$$$$$$$$$$$$ Cut material to length and debur $5.00 Set up machines and tools to be used $10.00 Bolt material to be machine in the fixture and machine the part. $ 20.00 Take part out, clean a debur $5.00 Send part out to be anodized one part will cost the same as having 50 done at the same time. $100.00 Total $310.00 And this is an unrealistic price because you couldn’t pay the payments on the machines or your overhead at 20 an hour. Most shops charge between 50 to 80 bucks an hour depending on their location. I try to shoot for 40 a hour but it rarely happenings. I’m to damn good hearted. The above is why production parts are less expensive. And also why custom one off parts cost so much. The more you make, the more cost efficient they become. Ok, now you want to know why you saw a part for 10. bucks somewhere. Labor rate in china is .56cents an hour and the part was no machined from a solid piece of aluminum, thats what billet is, solid. It was a poured, cast molded part. And cast parts are brittle from all the voids in the part, caused by air pockets and impurities. And they are not close tolerance parts.
