I made the mistake the other day of challenging a guy in an Acura NSX on the highway. I guess I forgot I was on my 9R and not a screaming Japanese four. He stayed right on my all the way through a 180 km/hr sweeper without a problem so I let him pass after realizing I had bitten off more than I could chew...oh well, I'll stick to embarrassing teenagers in Civics. |

Oh and you would have magically left him in the dust on a bike that only does 235 km I suppose. |

Just sharing a story, but obviously some people don't follow the " if you don't have anything good to say..." philosophy. I imagine most people on this forum have ridden their bikes fast once or twice. |

HEy NSbuell I've seen a few of those tricked little cars that would give just about anybody a run for their money. No worries man. |

12bolt: it wasn't a run-of-the mill RSX, it was an NSX...about 300 hp out of the box give or take. |

That's one thing I did like about my Turbo Hayabusa, Race? with who? a cage that's funny. On my XB I would be hesitant to race against any car on a freeway. But from stoplight to stoplight that's a different game. |

But from stoplight to stoplight that's a different game. Have to second that. I've destroyed many of cars who thought they could take me (for some reason they thought the Buell was slow. They think twice now.) stop light to stop light. I do no advocate street racing in any form |

I have also learned to treat the Dodge SRT4 with respect....could not catch it on the freeway. Felt realy bad about being unable to catch a Dodge Neon - until I saw the specs on the little car - top speed of 148 MPH. Although XBs are made for the twisties I'd like a little more top end. |

No M1, I'm talking about on an open highway or freeway. The Car will eventually catch you and pass you. You might downshift and beat them up to 120ish but that's when these things really slow down I think you are looking at 130ish as tops. I know there is a lot of cars and even some pickups that can go faster than that. I keep on thinking how embarrassing it would be getting passed by a Station Wagon,Family Truxter, Dodge Magnum etc... On Freeway I might race a Chevy metro but that might be the only race, I sure would hate to lose face on a Motorcycle. |

This is too funny! Reminds me of Mia Wallace in Pulp Fiction. What did she say? "When you guys get together you're worse than a sewing circle". I guess next the step is to start peeing on our posts to mark our territory! |

Nsbuell.... lol, I had an old Chevy Pickup walk away from me one day. I was on a '82 GS1100! talk about humbled. It's good when your ego gets a slap down, without body harm. Ignore the noises from the naysayers, I get the self depreciating humor. |

What is it with boards anyway? Seems like someone (Fogal in this case) always just has to be a jerk. |

Most ALL 500CC and up jap bikes or cars and or trucks will outrun our Buells top end at highway speeds. Our bikes were'nt made for top end speeds,we run out of gear. But,we are great from light to light or thru the twisties. If you seem to have the need or desire to outrun others at those speeds, you need to either 1)wake up and get real,2)get a jap bike. |

everyone thinks its the length of yer .. but any good woamn wil tell you, its the GIRTH! what has this to do w. buells? well, girth = torque, in this case. torque is sophisticated .. horsepower is like horses .. dumb, big, flakey, dangerous animals that look good on paper but stink in the flesh. don't race cars o highway .. esp. tuner or jap cars .. they are engineered to corner at speed, are generally force-fed air & have 4WD fulltime. get a ninja zx-10r for that crap.

I have Subaru WRX STI (300 HP). It can handle corners a lot faster than my XB9 (albeit I'm neither a car or motorcycle racer). |

you prick! i wanted that car .. but at CA$60k .. i took the bike. i can honestly say the buell feels a wee bit loose at speed on ROADS .. maybe on smooth track its secure. but then again, cars around one, make cornering at great speed & lean a scary proposition. |

"I have Subaru WRX STI (300 HP). It can handle corners a lot faster than my XB9 " No it can't. "i can honestly say the buell feels a wee bit loose at speed on ROADS " What's your suspension setup like and what tires are you using? |
