Guys, you're kill'n me here. After reading posts re. pipes and sound etc. I decided to get the kit put in for the fun factor if anything else. Not expecting that the volume increase from the stocker to the race pipe was going to be that significant. Not that I'm complaining mind you I now would feel right at home at the local HOG chapter meeting. Here I was thinking that the sound improvement would be just a tad louder and meaner than the stocker but it's pretty impressive. The XB wasn't a ear plug bike before, now it's mandatory. What scares me is you guys run'n the drummer remarking that the race can is almost silent in comparison. |

Yup, Nothing more satisfying than making a Harley owner, or a potential's head snap, sit up and take notice when you fire her up in the outside parking lot. So much noise from such a "wee" bike.. |

I'v caused a few neck sprains myself. I really like it when it is the same guy every morning. At that point I just try to set off car alarms for his benefit. |

I agree Noangel, I wasn't expecting much from the Buell race pipe on my nine either after reading all the posts...I'm perfectly happy with the sound though, It sounds great and plenty loud too in my opinion...changes the feel of the bike totally. |

I replaced my race pipe with the Drummer. I feel the Drummer is quieter although either way you need ear plugs. The race pipe sounded raspier as well. |

but does the race kit (pipe, filter & ecm) add much POWER to the 1203cc engine?? does it give any more revs, or faster revs .. or does it actually take some torque away? i am interested because i can only find data for the 984cc engine. any pointers to data appreciated folks, paul. |

The race kit doesn't really add that much extra horses per sae, it just changes the acceleration profile of the bike allowing it to spool up a heap faster (aka the fun factor), and of course the sound.. ooh the sound - but that's just my own riding and bike inexperience com'n out. |

so it revs faster?? does it rev higher too? i am guessing a minor drop in torque somewhere ... as long as it revs freer & has a snarl, i'll be happy .. infact i AM happy, already .. i kinda like the quite stocker w/ its little *coughs* on decelleration after a quick run thru some gears .. reminds me of race engines. |

So Ejiii, you say the race kit is louder than the drummer? |

I've only got the race pipe installed, can't afford the ECM or filter yet but it made a noticeable difference in top end power but may have taken a touch away from the bottom can't really tell. I'm hoping it'll be even better with the other mods. |

The race pipe and the Drummer are close in loudness, The Drummer is a little quieter. Maybe it's just an illusion because the Drummer has a lower and smoother tone. I did request Kevin build me a Drummer as quiet as he could so he added some extra packing in specific places inside the pipe. |
