No one who knows the truth is free to tell you anything you wish to know until the official release from Buell. Anything else is supposition and wishing. |

"No one who knows the truth is free to tell you anything you wish to know until the official release from Buell. Anything else is supposition and wishing." That is a very very dumb move on behalf of HD and Beull IMO. I have heard the logic of " well if people knew of the new models no one would buy from the current line up" . I am more inclined to belive the other logic is more prevalent "Well I am not waiting till July to find out what is coming out. I like this bike from XYZ company so I will get that" . Why do I think that way? Because it happened to me. I have a 2001 ZRX 1200. I got it in July but the first XB's were relased in the press in about August. Had I seen that bike first I would have waited. Besides, everybody loves a bargain so plenty of folks would buy the leftovers. |

Agree with Boxjoint on this. But that's my opinion. I'm sure HD has a LOT of market research behind their decision. Well, at least I hope so........... Personally, I got a ride on the new Triumph Speed Triple. Me likey...... |

There are a host of counterveiling thoughts and theories. I can spin about any of them to sound plausible. Buell, and Harley-Davidson, has made a business decision based on business metrics unique to the companies. Buells and Harley-Davidsons are differnet, but dicate identical strategies. The current strategy works for now. Court |

Box -- you're opinion and experience would be a great deal more drawing if your fiscal performance was equal to that of HDI -- not bad-rapping you, but it's their business model, and it's working pretty good for em, thus far not that I havn't disagreed with em (far from that ;-} ) |

No bike has stirred my emotions since the introduction of the S1. I have held on to them for A long time. I like the XB platform but the dealership network has never impressed me. UNTIL NOW ! I have been working on an S1 project for the last 6 months. And I haven`t had to wait more than 5 days for anything. Usually only 3 days. and this from A dealership I never use to like. Well ---- They never use to be into Buells. Now they are. Maybe i`ll try the XB platform. So Buell, The ball is in your court. Can`t wait to see what the 06 models are like. S1Eric |

S1, what dealership do you go to? I've noticed mine has been selling their City X's pretty quickly lately ever since I bought mine. (Guess I started something) Anyways, I've never felt mistreated there though I'm hoping when they open their new store they'll have a Buell section. |

I have always thought Harley and/or Buell were just stupid to make a business plan that introduces new models in the Fall which has always meant the end of riding season for me. I buy stuff in the spring when income tax rebates are back and the juices have started flowing. feb and march intros make much more sense to me. 94 Road king came out in march after showing at sturgis in Aug prev. year. Street rod was shown in Feb released in april. Look at all the new bmw models that are being intrduced this year. Speculation and rumor run rampant with "secret" photos since about Dec. Bikes here at dealers in April. This makes some sense. Rumour and speculation build interest in my mind and winter is the time for that. |

I bought my first bike in September 93'. I bought my Buell in September 04'. I bought my jeep in Oct 96'. I bought my convertible(miata) in Jan 03'. Maybe it's just me, or maybe there's a whole other demographic for which the "right time" just happens to be during most folks "hibernation time". (I think most cagers are in this state year round) Or maybe I just get bored, and for fun, I go harass a salesman for the best deal during a slow time for them. tank p.s. actually, timing on the Buell and the miata were pretty much dumb luck (Message edited by tank_bueller on May 11, 2005) |

"Tell me ONE YEAR that Buell has NOT INTRODUCED a net model?" I guess you're from the school that cosmetics such as translucent body work, new paint, and lowered suspension makes a new model? Oh, wait... they gave us non-leaking rockerboxes... nevermind... smoother tranny's...nevermind... |

Kelly you also forgot the next generation FI, the '05SX is the next generation from the '03/04XB9's and 12's, I am not certain if the '0512's got the newer computer. This was mentioned by anony when a discussion about the FI system and how it operates was going on and I beleive Erik mentioned it in print, but I can neither remember where or when the comment was made about the FI in print, maybe Court and his vast knowledge can. |

>>>>I guess you're from the school that cosmetics such as translucent body work, new paint, and lowered suspension makes a new model? One questions mark, two questions. #1: The translucent bodywork question is a bit misleading and would make the uninformed think that the bodywork (I'll toss the grill guards and hand guards in that box) is what makes a CityX different, and it is, from the other members of the XB platform. The XB9SX CityX , in my PERSONAL opinion, is a complete new Buell. Granted the platform is common to the XB line, but I was in awe the first time I rode this bike. By the way, some of you may recall that the fist rime I rode the CityX I went to the store for Vickie and came back, after traversing 3 states, that evening. I am preparing to do some exceedingly long days on a CityX and, given the ergo of the bike, look forward to it. If you haven't ridden one, please do. It was, don't be fooled, designed from the ground up to be a streetfighter. There was another question...right? Ah yes... To wit: new paint, and lowered suspension makes a new model? New paint does not. Lower the suspension (involves a goodly amount of engineering) will doubtless require that you recertify (mega bucks). I think I could successfully lobby my way to grandfather or waive a host of provisions and homologation requirements under the "that part is unchanged" logic, but you are most certainly going to have to demonstrate that the suspension is suited for sale. Your tax dollars at work. Court |

I had read on some forum or another that there were supposed to be TWO buell models that were new this year, announce in june or july. When I was talking to my local dealer, I mentioned that and he didn't say no, just kind of nodded and dropped it. Realistically, I don't know how much these guys know or not, but it seemed that we may have at least something pretty exciting headed our way buell-wise, at least I hope so. |

"I am preparing to do some exceedingly long days on a CityX" Heck, I've done some exceedingly long days on my 12S. Even carried enough stuff for an 8 day outing on it with no problem. I would suggest making a pair of "highway pegs" that thread into to fixed nuts on the muffler, through the lower fairing. I did and really appreciated a different leg position during long stretches between the twisties. |

>>>Court, are ya coming this direction? Actually, not quite yet. I had a "NYC to SF - eat lunch & return" gig in the works. This trip is going to be leaving NYC late Monday night and meeting up with Chauly and doing a tour of Michigan, the Grand Hotel, Mackinaw, accross the top and down into East Troy. I'm not ruling the Lunch in CA thing out.....the CityX is a touring "sleeper" I think....I'll know for sure soon. Court P.S. - that does not rule out coming to CA, snagging one of your S-2 and romping for a couple days. Chauly has a bike rented for 15 days and he and Karin will end up at Laguna Seca.......I am required to work at least 4 consecutive weeks once during the year. S |

i still say it'll be a redesign for the blast, and if it's two new bikes, possibly a twelve st building off the 12s with nifty touring stuff but only as different as the cityx is to the xb9s. |

Enjoy the Grand Hotel, Mackinaw Island is a unique place. A slice of an older life. There are a couple of Lake Michigan Islands that reflect a different time but Mackinaw is the most accessable and the most historic. The others are not so deliberatly stuck in time. |

My '06 arrived today, now has 9 miles on it. Orange HD Street Rod. Its 45 deg. and spitting snow with a nasty wind, gusting to 35 crosswind or I owuld be riding. My nephew came down and rode some with me, likes the street rod but is buying the k-tank. He had a good time in the wind too. I think I may have corrupted one of the next generation. When the '06 Buells come out I am getting one of them april of '06. Make it in red or yellow please. |
