About 2 months ago I purchased a 97 S-1 Lightning with 5,000 miles on it. After having to wake up one morning to find it on its side I replaced the signals, made a new plate bracket, painted the exhaust with header paint and have been waiting ever since to ride. In fact I have been going crazy to ride!! Today I finally got a break!!!!! I went into work and we have no airplane to work on. So I sent my crew away to other lines for work, done a few things here and there and left early. Got home and took the bike out of my basement (which is a chore) and fired her up. I was concerned about the remote idler because it was idling high so before I was going to try and ride I had to get it unstuck. With some help from you guys here I got it in no time at all. Then I went to get some much needed gas. I have never owned a bike before but have had close friends that have had so I got to ride alot growing up. I was a little intimidated but I said oh well I gotta' ride it sometime so I hoppped on and took off. This was my first ride since I rode it home so second time I had been on it! I can really see why someone would be a Buell enthusiast!! I fell in love all over again!!! The handling, acceleration, everything about it I absolutley loved. I got a few looks from people like what the hell is that which I kinda' enjoyed!! I just wanted to let you guys know that I FULLY understand why it is that we ride what we ride (if that makes sense)!!! Sorry for the long post but I just had to tell someone. I got home from riding with a eating grin and my fiance was like are you OK?? I was like OH YEA!!!!!! |
