Are you a south San Francisco Bay Area based Bueller? Consider this an invite to a simple vehicle designed to bring south San Francisco bay area Buellers together in between American Sportbike Night meets and events. http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/SouthBayBuellers/ It'll take awhile but we may reach critical mass and get more than one or two Buells together for south bay rides. (BTW did I ever tell you about our legendary Putt of Death® ride?) Anyway our hope is that they'll mate and the issue will be a real 2-up touring Buell. So join up, stick around and, if you get a chance, slide by the Bay Area Sportster's San Jose hangout BIG DOGS at the corner of Cherry and Foxworthy some Friday eve and introduce yourself. If you haven't joined up at American Sport Bike Night, do so now. We meet first Monday of every month in San Leandro. For more info and directions go to: http://autos.groups.yahoo.com/group/americansportbikenight/ Fred X1 '00 Buell X1 (winner of prestigious CAMS V best Buell award..OK, so there were only 2 other Buells there) |

Was down by Hollywood yesterday. Had the pleasure to stop by Glendale Harley/Buell. Those guys are great. They actually have guys on staff that are fanatics about Buell. I walked outside and they showed me their bikes. Both had more tire tread left in the center than on the sides. These guys ride. They have Erik Coming there May 14th and then they are going to Willow Springs on the 15th. I am glad to have found a dealer that supports Buell, too bad they are 2 hours away. |

Fred I saw an XB12R, XB9R, X1, S3T and an S2. I thought Timbo said there were 7 Buells in total. Not sure what the others were. Your X1 did like quite nice. Jim |

I got a 2 piece off brand(ProSport)on eBay for about 125,minimal ventilation holes and no cloth.Got my son a 1 piece Vanson, all leather,(sweet!!) for 98.00,course he's all of 120 lbs.I was darned if I was going to go out and buy 2 more expensive suits as we already had decent stuff. And then the stuff we saw the tech guys let people get aaway with was infuriating.Just shop around there and look for older styles that had less high tech fabric and such. |

Jim,they were letting people get by with duct tape over the vent holes and I saw one old school HD guy with 2 piece set that did not even zip together. We stitched some leather patches loosely on inside of Terry's leathers. |

Jim, I was at speedweek last august, nobody was getting away with just duct tape at the scta meet. I saw 5 people just sent away from tech inspection after they saw the leathers, didn't even look at the bikes. SCTA was real serious about this. By Sunday a number of riders had figured out the deal and were borrowinng legal leathers just to get thru tech. By Tuesday the tech inspectors were taking turns on the start line checking for legal leathers. There was talk of some sort of branding to identify which suit was legal for which bike for next year. When buying suits, dirt track suits are all leather and should be readily available. |

Seemed pretty silly as these guys work for SCTA -I have seen them at both USFRA and SCTA.Be nice to have consistency. The whole thing was a knee-jerk reaction to percieved problem. They thought Jon Minomo got burnt through his leathers by oil or gasoline going through his crotch area fabric insert when in fact, by his own account, it was steam burns from sweat under his leathers from the hot oil on the top of the leathers. So it would have happened no matter what he was wearing. It has been hashed and rehashed over on www.landracing.com to no avail. |

Just did a quick scan and there are a bunch of older style or off brand suits on eBay right now that would do the trick, cheaply. |

Well according to all the more experienced fellas I have spoken to turbos react a bit different to NOS.They really like the cooling effect and tend to make MORE HP than the same jetting will in a naturally aspirated motor. So all that being said I will run the smallest jets I have--supposed to be a 20 HP shot could be as much as 30-40.I have 3 2 1/2 lb bottles, will go with one at first then add capacity as I figure this NOS stuff out.Added to the new bigger turbo am really hoping for some nice numbers---!!!! |

Just an FYI: Anyone thinking of going to Deal's Gap... beware! Quoted from another site: Deals Gap Today: New Law Enforcement!! and a milestone! Spent today at Deals Gap.. a weird day. Weather was too good to pass up.. 75 and sunny.. no rain in the last few days so there shouldn't have been in debris or gravel on the road. .. Got there around 10:30am to a small crowd of maybe 20 riders or so.. First thing I heard was the cops were out in force due to some early morning crashes.. Apparently, last night some local terrorists dumped oil in FOUR major curves.. The first people through the Gap this am hit it and went down. By the time I got there, law enforcement, DOT, and the guys from www.killboy.com had put up warning cones and spread sand over the areas. Killboy, who's car has flashing police-type lights on it even left his car at one spot virtually all day.. Way to go, dude!! Fortunately.. all 4 dumps were in the same lane so you could make a full speed run going FROM the Crossroads of Time. There is a REWARD for info to apprehend the `tards who did this.. Another not so good development that we should have all seen coming... there are now (4) permanent Tennessee side police bikes patrolling. Geeezz.. (see attached pic). I stopped and spoke with one of them.. actually doing recon to see what he was equipped with and what they were doing... The good news is.. the new Harley cop bikes are NOT equipped with any form of radar guns. The just ride the Dragon and beg for you to pass them.. They have been instructed NOT to give chase.. That's interesting..While the speed limit is only 30 or 35... I blew by two of these guys (both parked) at around 45-50 and they didn't come after me. This cop told me that there would be only 1 or 2 cycle officers on the Dragon at a time and would rotate with the other guys. He said within a year the bikes will have camera's installed. Pay attention out there. From behind they look like any other slo- Harley except for some smallish gold lettering saying "Sheriffs's Dept. / Blount Country.. You pass one and your toast. I guess I'll just go to AR and miss out on the LEO's. Time2Ride. Neil S. |
