Yeah....a quick question about tires: Anybody here using Michelin Pilot Power tires? Any comparison to something like the Diablo or Metzler M1? I found the Pilot Power tires on sale for a great price with free shipping. Not sure if they'd make a good track day tire. Thanks! |

Funny you ask that:-) I use Michelin Pilot Powers on the Street, and I have used them quite happily for a track day, but the main reason I like them is that they greatly improved the handling of my XB9S, and last twice as long as the original Dunlop 207s. Yesterday I received the latest edition of Road Racing World, with a test of the best race and track day tires. I heartily recommend it. To make a long story short, excluding the Dunlop 208GP's which they said were not really a street tire, the top rated tire was the Michelin Pilot Power. Now in this test, they were used by a top professional rider at speeds not too many of us will ever get close to. Thus whether used on the street by the normal Buelligan, or on the track by a pro, these tires seem to be very highly regarded. |

At my track school yesterday at Roebling Road Raceway, (Frank Kinsey Racing School,) the majority used the Pilot Power. Well, Mr. Kinsey is a Michelin trackside vendor, too. I survived without crashing on Pirelli Diablos on my 9. Charlie |

I'm not using Michelin Pilot Powers, but I'd definitely recommend http://www.ronayers.com for tires. I just got a great price on a set of Metzeler Sportec M1's from them (Message edited by lpowel02 on May 08, 2005) |
