Ok i'll try to keep it simple. Current setup xb9s, d&D pipe, 12 airbox k&N filter, and race ecm. The last week my bike has been starting hard. It runs fine once its been warmed up(5-10 min of riding) This problem came up after i changed the exhaust and airbox. But i did have most of my bike apart this past winter. Now i know a lot of you guys have suggestions as to what it could be. I would like to have someone with the same setup give me some advice. The only thing i can come up with right now is the velocity stack is leaking air into the throttle body. I noticed that it barely seals itself on top of the throttle body and there really is no way to tighten it. Anyone else seen this?? |

Check your plugs, could be fouled, I know that mine started almost as quickly as I hit the button after I changed them, prior to that, it was getting progressively harder to start |

yes, 2 dollar spark plugs every 10,000 miles really adds up. |

I have been using the pro-series plugs and have found about 7000 - 8000 miles is about the time they should get changed if most riding is 50 MPH or higher. If slower/city riding then probably 4000 - 6000 miles is more likely it. Yeah it is a bit expensive but if you want to play you got to pay. Likely if you took the bike to a dealer, the labor would cost more than the parts even if the pro-series plugs and new plug wires were installed every time... That is what I found on both the XB and FatBoy. |
