Here are the features of the bike I wish Buell would make for me. Its sort of a Supermoto / Dualsport. Ergonomics: Wider fat bars, higher and pulled back some. Cross brace and pad. Soft grips. Footpegs a bit forward so I can stand up comfortably on rough ground, jumps and wheelies. Gel seat as low as possible that I can slide back on Real HID headlights Engine: I’ll stick with 1 liter. Raise the rev limit. K&N stock Programmable ECM stock 6 speed tranny Cut away inner and outer air box but the cut outs are offset to keep splash off the K&N. Loose the snorkel hole (more gas) and put air scoops on both sides for the rear cylinder. I’m tempted toward chain drive, but I think I’ll stick with the new belt setup, maybe a bit wider. Lighter, smaller muffler with the Drummer power band and sound level (yes I am biased) Maybe squeak a bit more HP out of it Suspension & rubber More travel front & rear – a couple of inches Heavy duty fork & fork brace Heavy duty frame sliders – ones that can laugh off a low side M1s or Diablos Lighten up everything wherever possible Cosmetics “S” type front shield, but more symmetrical like a number plate. Rear number plate panels “Tank” cutouts have stainless steel screen inserts High front fender but not the ugly euro high half front fender Accessories ECM programming software with 10’ USB cable Tiny plug & play directional signals “for off road use only” of course Hand guards – the real ones with metal in them like Acerbis. DOT dual sport tires DOT knobbies for insane people. I'd buy it tomorrow! |

Belt drive in the dirt!?! Pretty soon a Buell rider will be scraping elbows with McGrath, Bubba, and Larocco! I'll hand it to you Steve, you've got an imagination. Good choice on some of those parts! |

That's not it at all. I'm sure the beemer is mechanically sound but to me it is freaking ugly - looks like a tank. I've ridden all 5 of the BMWs here at my shop and they just aren't for me. I do like the riding position though. |

ktm superduke 9 is what the new buell should be aiming to beat. Anything less then the superduke and it will be a failure |

I think a lot of people think that BMW R1200GS is attractive for the same reason I like my CityX -- it is freaky and functional. It has a great engine right from the factory. --EMS ----2005 Buell CityX ----1997 BMW R1100RT |
