I brought this one up over in the "suggestions" forum and Blake asked me to drop it in here to see if there's any interest--- Proposed: A BadWeb Ladies Forum. If Court can have his own forum, certainly there's room for the gals. I know there are quite a few women Buellers, but I don't see them post that often to the other forums. If they had a forum of their own, perhaps more of them would come out, and post and participate. I know, I know, they can post now anytime they want to, but its really male-dominated around here, and sometimes I feel like I'm in a noisy beer-bar with my buddies. Which is fine, I like hanging out in the pub, but you know what I mean... And in the Ladies Forum the guys could post as well, of course, and perhaps some of us might be better behaved if we felt we were in the "presence" of women. Whattya say? Ladies of the Badweb, I know you're out there! Buellgirlie? Blastgirl? Kandie? Speak... |

I *think* the lack of interest is due to what would be posted there. For instance, let's say Rebecca has a question about balancing her wheel. Should it be posted in under "Wheels-balancing" or "Women on Buells"? Part of what is neat about Buells is that since Alison (first female Buell rider) established the first Buell Owners Group in Georgia) that guys and gals have pretty well melded without, as the feds say "with regard to race, religion or gender". I'm, PERSONALLY, not fond of a de facto discriminatory "female" area and think it has the effect of casting the women as, well "women riders" , somehow just a tad shy of being up to "guy standards". There may be special areas of interest to women. I know for instance, married to a woman who has fought her way to the very top of a traditonally male world on Wall Street, that women's clothing is a biggie. Ever tried buying an Aerostich or leather jacket when you are 5'-0" and <100#? But, if I were a gal wanting to know where such an item could be found, I'm not sure I'd want to limit the responses to those from females only. Anyway, just my thoughts. I've long said, if you ever happened to catch some of the columns I wrote in the mid 90's, that I remain amused by those who would like to suggest there is any reason men and women should not be able to operate a motorcycle with EQUAL skill. But, then again, my wife has embarrased me on more than one occasion..... Court |

Hmmm... good points Court. But I certainly don't mean to suggest that the women are not up to guy standards. Nor am I much impressed with those who try to build exclusive groups based on race or ethnicity (or gender), while shielding themselves with that annoying PC word "diversity". So would this fill a need? Perhaps not. Well, in the words of another woman I always liked, (Rosanne Rosannadanna)--- "Never mind!" (Message edited by tommy_2stroke on April 29, 2005) |

It's getting down to similarities with the Harley vs Buell split, let's face it we all have a common reason to be here, ...BUELL ! Why don't we just use that as the basis for the boards ! |

Heyodaddyo! There are A LOT of women who post on Badweb!!! When I started posting right after getting my Buell in 2002 I think I stirred up the board a little here... I know Blake got his undies all twisted up. The Belle City and Brew City threads have a lot of posts by women also... I have never been treated as anything but an avid motorcyclist here on Badweb.... Well, except for Spidey and we all know that was a game of cat and mouse that neither of us took seriously... Maybe CJ can start a "Harley Chicks" thread... ha ha ha ha ha. Anyway, we all probably talk on the phone far more than mere mortal men can imagine. Your intentions seem well though perhaps a little naive! |

Admittedly there are probably some issues that the ladies could speak of on the board separate from the men, but honestly, I think in those cases, the ladies have already emailed each other and simply asked...unlike men, women will ask each other which is more comfortable in the saddle...and if you don't understand what I am hinting at, then well you just don't need to know so in reality I don't see a need for a separate board. |

There are women who ride Buells? I thought there were just riders ! Women, men should it make a difference. What are they gonna discuss the fact that the X-1 seat doesn't squish your gnads as bad as the aftermarket corbin seat. |

A couple of "ladies" have expressed interest in this idea. Create a new topic in Storm Fronts or wherever. I say, go for it! Who am I to belittle it? I do have a problem with the idea that I "might be better behaved" if I knew I was in the presence of women. That's BS! I'm always well behaved! People who are not well behaved invariably misbehave around men, women and children. It doesn't matter, they're just jerks! A special "ladies only" forum won't change that. |

I am about as ill-behaved as they come... and I will never consider myself "a lady"... I am a woman and a smartass (but not in that order)...just ask Blake! (Message edited by Whatever on May 01, 2005) |

I have thought about this all weekend and well I think it would be nice to have a woman's forum under Storm Fronts. If you're a woman and want to use it great, if not then you don't have to but it's nice to have the option. There are a LOT of woman on this board lurking- riders, wives and girlfriends of riders. In fact I used to only post on the 3%er's board and lurk the other boards myself. To be honest I was a little intimidated to post on such a predominantly male open forum. I used to tease Glitch and ask him questions instead of posting them on the board 'with the Big Boyz'. He told me time and time again to just post that it was no big deal but it was still a while before I did. I'm not saying Every woman feels the way I do but hey not every woman is ready to just jump right in on a board that is predominantly men. I also thought about what would I post on an female forum and I came up with quite a few things. Some of them I had even thought about posting previously but I didn't feel comfortable posting them in a predominantly male forum. If I made a thread- What are some easy meals you throw together after riding all day- Guys- Reply Hooters, Pizza yada yada Where as from a woman I might actually get some ideas. There are different things woman deal with in regards to riding a bike then men, that's just reality. Men and woman think differently and just cuz we ride the same kind of bike doesn't mean those differences are automatically overcome. I'm sure the guys wouldn't want 'their boards' over run with girlie talk- and I don't mean make-up tips. So why not have a woman's area and see how it goes? I think everyone might be pleasantly surprised. It's better to open a door and see who walks through then keep it closed and never have that path as an option. |

I've been to Newfie's house, don't worry girls, he knows his place! I like hangin with the girlies as much as the guys so I don't really see the need for separate boards, to be honest. One more thought, If this go's ahead, Should a hermaphrodite Buell rider wish to post, where would he/she/it do so? Uh Oh another whole new can of worms. |

i see no point in a separate forum. the only thing it might remotely be useful for is to find good vendors to buy women-sized gear at, but that can be a thread under gear elsewhere. i had a hell of a time finding gloves - finally got some ladies small alpinestars with carbon fiber at the track last weekend! |
