For the straight line folks, Seems that Pingel Ent(Adams,Wi)has a new toy for the M2 owners. How about some wheelie bars? The set-up bolts thru the axel and clamps to the rear sub-frame under the body work. Geez now I won't need a longer swingarm for those weekend frolics. |

Just got back from the drag races. The "Killer Dresser" (full dress Ultra Glide) who's motor Wes and Pammy (Cyclerama) built ran 10.92!! That's a full dress (he even has the radio blaring)... 750 pound behemoth that's *street ridden*!! Can you imagine what it would run sans about 300 pounds?! The Buells were there in force too... and runnin' good. The erratic launches that I witnessed some time ago as result of riders not accustomed to dragging the short wheelbased bike were a thing of the past. I guess practice makes perfect. |

Here are my two best runs yet. The bike is a 00 X1, and is all stock except for a K&N air filter. 1st pass: reaction: .204 60ft : 1.999 330ft : 7.971 660ft : N/A E.T. : 12.373 M.P.H. : 112.344 2nd pass: reaction: .078 60ft : 1.914 330ft : 7.952 660ft : N/A E.T. : 12.373 M.P.H. : 110.469 I also ran a 13.907(spun the wheel silly at the launch), and a 12.653(had trouble shifting into 4th) I know the bike is capable of 12.2's or better, but I need to improve my riding skills. Before each run, I do a good burnout, and when I come up to the line, I try and put my front wheel in the center of the rubber strip that the cars leave. Is this good? Anyone out there have any tips? Thanks all! TOOTSIE |

Tootsie, with a reaction time of .078 you don't need any tips, just keep 'em that good ! Anyway, I'm pretty wacked at the moment, but I have some drag race updates from earlier this afternoon, RE: Elvington (Straightliners Series). Will talk t' ya'll later, when I've had chance to come down, and rest ! Rocket in England |

Drag Racing is Fun! I had a chance to run for the first time at Tri State in Earlville, IA this weekend. I got 12 runs in. My best time was 11.662 @ 117.58 mph. My best mph was 119.11. It was a fun day. I can't wait to give it a try again. |

Just been to a Drag Race and ran a 10.85 @ 129 mph, also had a go at a flyer and went through the speed trap at 159 mph @ 6550rpm in top gear, think I might try changing the front sprocket to a 27 tooth instead of 29 to see if it will crack the 160 mph. Has anyone else raced an X1 this year. |

I'm thinking of drag racing my 97 s3 ' I need some tips.I'v years of motocoss and cruiser riding, when I start from a dead stop my wheel comess up a foot or two for maybe a second without spinning the wheel ,the last bike I had that had any get up and go was a 79 yamaha xs .I could rev it up and dump the clutch laid up on the tank and leave out spinning with the tire on the ground.I was out this morning practing from a dead stop and just can't see to keep the front end down ,I,v owened the buell for about a month and got about a thousand miles on it ,any suggestions would really be a help to me. |

Catkiller, "No Bar" racing is truly an art and I have a great deal of respect for the folks who can do it well. Try this, when you light the "prestaged" bulb take a breath, roll in to light the "staged" bulb, slowly roll the throttle up and hold the r's at a steady 3500 - 4000 rpm. When you dump the clutch don't let it go completely. Dump the clutch to the point of it hitting hard but it is at this point where you will feed the clutch out as you roll the throttle open. Like I said, it is an art. Play with the launch rpm until you get the results you want. Ideally you'll carry the front wheel about an inch off the ground. Rear tire pressure is critical and will have a profound effect on how the bike launches. The right pressure is dependent upon a few things like your weight, your seat position on the launch, and tire compound. Play with the pressure until it feels right to you. More pressure will let the tire slip more and less pressure will give you more bite. A few pounds of pressure one way or the other will make a big difference. You can also lower the front end by sliding the tubes up through the triple trees or strapping it down. Hope this helps. Keep us posted on how it goes. We need more "Drag" talk around here. PB Ps. You could always put a set of bars on it. hehe |

TOM BRADFORD WINS AGAIN! Tom Bradford and the Thunder Eagle Racing Team, arrived in Oregon ...ready to win. Win they did! This report was transmitted to Dwight before Tom knew about the World Trade Center tragedy, as he was in transit. We all must go on, we all must do our part. I'm including the words of the racer about his racing team with great pride. Tom wanted it titled…Strong Performance, A Little Luck. We all need more of that now… "Thunder Eagle Racing attended the Northwest Nationals in Woodburn, Oregon. A pair of strong 7.59 ET's @ over 172mph captured the number one qualifier spot. Sunday's eliminations looked vital to the T.E.R teams quest for the 2001 championship. Round one brought a bye for the team and the run was a soft 8.02. Upon inspection, cylinder head problems required replacement of both heads between round one and two. Could it be done in between rounds? The team hustled and made the call for round two. Round two brought the team against the very strong Rocklin H-D bunch, with Matt Guiderra at the controls…definitely a team that can't be taken lightly. The pressure was on. Could we beat these guys? Would we loose the points lead here? When the smoke cleared, Tom came out on top with a 7.78 ET. Win in round two. With a sigh of relief, the team advanced to the final against rival Dirk Higgins. Can we win this? Will Dirk take the lead here in the points? FIRE EM' UP! The race of the season on the line…Pre-stage bulbs on, stage bulbs on, they are off, looks like Dirk has the advantage…but…WAIT… Red Light… from Dirk. Tom runs a 7.77 to Dirk's 7.68. Rider Quote. "This is really unbelievable, we had to put back-up cylinder heads on the bike between round one and two. My hat is off to Keith Schneider and the team for making this possible. Sometimes a little luck is all you need!" And now, may we all go on…and on…and on! Thunder Eagle Racing thanks its sponsors: S&S Cycle, Hal's Performance Advantage, The Carburetor Shop, T-N-S Machining, Howe Industries, CRD Inc.,Gates Belts and Hoses, Buell Motor Co., Mustang Shelly's Roadhouse, MATCO Tools, Red Line Oil, and MTI Coatings. PS Tom's bike has Buell body work. |

Hi I'm new to this bbs.I couldn't help seeing these times on this buells. I have a 2000 X-1 and got a stock engine with a couple of mods. My rear suspension is solid.Longer strut bar thus lowers the bike and fork tubes bottomed out to the handle bars via drag strap. I change setups when i go drag racing. I got nailed down 11.00 @122 mph @1.7 60 ft @ .502 light. No wheelie bars here! Pay attention to tire pressure in rear. I weigh 220 and lean all the way up,use the clutch and throttle accordinly.Like I start at 4500 and by the time i get to 60 ft.It is right on the money, shift!Redlines at measly 6500 rpms,I hate it!I want to know if there is anything i can extend the rpm's by a 1,000.It would be perfect! Know this , I went from a crotch rocket to a streetfighter knowing it would be a challenge to handle . So i brought it and almost beating my old crotch rocket! I believe I can get it in the mid 10's by extending the r's and electric shifter. MY old crotch rocket was a zx6r and went 10.70 @ 125mph! I've been racing off and on for 2 yrs.I go road racing and drag racing. so I think it is time for us to lower the bikes about 3 inches and use it at the track only. It takes me 30 minutes to do the whole set up with common hand tools. But please torque those triple trees! Any helpful hints or questions.....ask or give! Please don't use this set up on the street! Track only and WIN! Note: the set up is for drag racing and my road racing set up is top secret! |

No wonder they call you Swifty You say a couple of mods on a stock X1. What are they dude ? You ran 11 dead. If you were 70lbs lighter I'd say you were very fast. Running with 220lbs makes you unbelievably fast. The fastest Buell on the strip, that's still street legal, is down at 10.4 something and the mods are extensive, including a larger displacement and a 140lb pilot. Wicked time. Are you sure the timing lights weren't at the 8 th marker Post more details please, and welcome to BWB Rocket in England |

Hey Swifty, Hell of a job man. Suggestions? Sounds like you got it down, in it's present configuration. Maybe pick up a little on the 60 footer, but, that may be hard to do without bars. I know of "bar" bikes that would like to go 11.00's But, now if your talking about going to a "race only" setup, that opens up a whole load of possibilities. Keep it up PB |

Rocket man!........ hmmm i should switch my name. The only mods i got is a power commander and a forcewinder and lose that chin fairing! The powercommander i put in and had someone else configure the perfect ratio via IBM laptop! It really works good. I was told today by some fellow buellers that i should change to a race pcm and that should raise my rpm's up.hmmm wonder if it is true..... before i spend my hard earned dollars. call me nuts ..... i want a big cubic inches stuffed in my buell like, 95 cid! That would solve my power delima! hmmmm! |

Also forgot to add......I got the optional p/m wheels. They are extremly light! and to end the psychobabble you can fit a 190/50/zr17 rear tire with the belt drive! That is without a rear fender. I don't know if this combo will work with a fender. Thought I'd give some info. |
