thang -- none taken, brother mine Court -- little crowing here -- since I quit smoking, I've lost 20+ pounds! remember though, that generating lift does not necessarily result in leaving the ground ;-} |

I need some advise. I currently have a 2002 blast, I am putting it up for sale in the fall and am looking at getting a cityx. I was wondering how everyone that has one likes it versus the other models. I am a new rider, and my wife likes to ride on the back. I wanted to give her the blast but she refuses to learn how to ride. I ride as much as possible, being from michigan thats not much lately, she likes to go out as much as possible also, so I need something with a seat for her. Any advice would be appreciated |

Jugallo94, My wife and I shared a Blast and I now have a CityX. I been very pleased with it so far. The Blast to CityX transition should be a good one for you, but I don't consider any of the XB models a good platform for two up riding. That being said, several here have reported that they have done so and have enjoyed it. The XB's are very sensitive to suspension settings and riding two up [even if both are small people] would require one to pretty much max out the suspension. You would then need to re-adjust for solo riding or you could end up with a very unpleasant ride. This wouldn't be an issue if you were just going a few blocks to a movie or dinner. I certainly wouldn't want to discourage anyone from buying a Buell as I think they are wonderful, fun bikes and I greatly admire and respect Erik Buell's vision of what a motorcycle should be. However, I think there are probably better choices out there if you plan to do some two up riding with your wife. On a lighter note...I was asked the other day if any one ever rides on the back of my CityX. My response was "It's been a long time since I even knew anyone small enough to do so." |

Att Brad Johnson.....I love your profile. I will never forget rideing up to that same spot on my X1 a few years back. The Lord sure made that part of the world for Buells. Have fun. |

I am looking for a good Buell dealer/service/parts in Southern Cal. I live in Twentynine Palms and my nearest HD dealer doesnt service Buells. Anyone have experience with Palm Springs HD? I just bought a 00 Buell X1 and I need a voltage regulator bracket. I also have some hesitation under hard acceleration I would like to get checked out. |

Ratchdaddy- I live near Hemet and I usually use Quaid for OEM stuff, but first try Al at American Sport Bike. As far as service I have no idea around here (good thing I guess), but we should meet up and ride. Maybe you could ride with me to the races this weekend? I have heard a race ECM takes a lot of hesitation out of stock X1's. Have you checked the simple stuff? |

Paul, check to se if you have a race ECM on it. If not, I would suggest getting one, especially if you have an aftermarket intake and exhaust on it. Many a 99 and 00 has had it's hard acceleration stumble corrected merely with a bolt on of the race ECM. Look under your seat, if the ECM doesn't have white letters that say "for race use only", you have the stock ECM. Now, it isn't legal to run one on the street, but that's true about exhaust and intake mods too. Most folkd here probably have one, I'd bet. If you have the old "L" front exhaust hanger, highly recommend you upgrade to the inverted Y hanger. The kit comes with a new regulator bracket that spins the regulator 90 degrees. See here These things prevent a lot of exhaust failures. The old design is not so great. I have both in stock. The ECM would need a TPS reset, I can do that for free at the shop in Vista, CA. It's a bit of a ride, but hey, there's a mountain range to blast between you and me, how bad can that be? Al |

Al....has anyone run their bike thru the emissions process, with the custom exhaust, race ignition and carb mods? I know, or at least when I lived in Arizona, you had to have the bike smogged , just like the cars...just wondering....so far, we are lucky in california, and we do not have to have them smogged. With all of the loud exhausts, and ways to get more money for the state, I bet we see this one day. They will be checking for all stock equipment, and if you don't you will not get to ride you bike...comments? REX |

Rex, I don't doubt that day will come. Hopefully it will be gracefully introduced, i.e., if they start it in 2009, only 2009 and later models will be inspected. Not sure. I wouldn't throw my stock emissions parts away, that's for sure. But hey, we might be riding electric motorcycles before then.... Al |

SandBlast, just sold my house in San Jacinto last year. I used Quaid Temecula since they first started for my sportster and my FXR. Its a drive but I guess I could still use them if I have to. As for a ride, that sounds good but I cant make it this weekend. What races by the way? Al, It has the race ECM and a scorpion pipe. I'll have to check on the air box and the exhaust hanger. I wouldnt mind swooping down to Vista to have my TPS reset. Still have a lot of pals down that way from my Camp Pendleton days and it would give me a good reason to take the shortcut over the mountains. |

it's the annual CAMS -- California Meeting of Sportsters (and Buells) -- ride, on its way as we speak to spend the weekend in Yosemite Nat'l Park. i hooked up for a couple of hours this morning (as the token Japanese Uber-Tourer) and then had to get back to work. Unibear's in there somewhere (he's the one with the persistent hangover...), but on his XB12R as his S3T finally ran out of oil. (Message edited by jerry_haughton on April 29, 2005) |

I had a great time riding with those guys. All of them great people with buckets of talent. Dino & Ferris can really pick some fantastic roads too. Btw that Sportster & it's rider can kick bigtime! For that matter so could all the rest of them. |

Big Thanks to Ferris, Dino and Unibear12r for leading us up some of the finest roads on God's green earth. That's Dino on the right. IMHO, nothing surpasses riding a Buell through the gradeur of the Yosemite Valley. Truely AWESOME! CAMS (CAlifornia Meeting of Sportsters) was a great success. It was especially cool that Dale Amsden was able to come out from Ohio to join us this year. For those who don't know, Dale built the Sportster that set a World Land Speed Record back in 2001. Here's Dale. Thanks again guys! Timbo |

Good morning guys, Ferris & Dino - thanks once again for your hospitality and being expert tour guides. GREAT ROADS! (although the one with the horse**** in every sharp corner was, uh, different. Glenn, nice to meet you; glad to have you join the fun. Let's do it again! Yosemite was extra spectacular this year with all the rain & snow in the mountains! Jim in Santa Barbara |
