I have no confidence in the stock pegs anymore. Last night my buddy was putting his VTX in my garage and kicked the right rider peg on my brother's 12R. Broke right off. It was a stock peg powder coated black. I'm just glad it happened this way and not during riding or, even worse, during a wheelie. Anyone have any experience with any aftermarket pegs? After this, I want to replace all the pegs on my 9S.    He walked the VTX in and was on the left side of the bike. He kicked the peg with his left leg when he walked by...had to hurt   (Message edited by DaveINM on April 27, 2005) | ||

yeah broke a peg on my XB, dropped bike on left side in garage, played with a friends TIG welder, fixed it up real nice. bought a spare from Dave Steuve, but i actually like my customized peg better. | ||

Yeah, I can understand a peg snapping it you drop the bike, but kicking it is a different story. | ||

I dig the Oberon pegs 'troll! Are they studded enough to keep your feet on the pegs? Where'd you get 'em? Do they fold up at all? | ||

Yikes! Al mentioned a number of people have had pegs break. Buell recall coming soon maybe?? | ||

Al mentioned the same thing to my brother when he was looking to put the S pegs on his R. That brings up another question. With aftermarket pegs, am I going to lose my current foot position? I would think that would be the case. | ||

broke 3 pegs in total ( 2 left 1 right ) before my sato rearset i think it's ment to brake like that, becouse mine broke all the same way ( like the picture ) 2 left one's broke pushing my bike out off the shed ( rear end first ) knocked the peg off against the doorpost the right one was a full down  | ||

Do you ever lift a little off the seat as you cross railroad tracks or rough spots in the road? Or do you ever do a standing wheelie? Food for thought. | ||

Ya there studded enough (PAIN IN THE ARSE PUTTING ALL THOSE LITTLE HEXHEADS IN)just not quite long enough. When you're really digging into a corner it can sometimes feel like your foot is gonna slip off,I've readjusted my technique so that when I'm really leaning it my foot is actually on the end of the peg and not the top. I don't THINK it moved my feet position but I'm not 100% sure,It doesn't FEEL any lower or higher,and yes the fold up using stock hardware. I got them from the oberon engineering website which i cant post for fear of a ban for violating the sponsor rules.  (Message edited by buelltroll on April 27, 2005) | ||

I reiterate, since I don't weigh that awful much and figure I have nothing to worry about... And, I'll be more specific. At 145 odd pounds, I don't think that "I" need to worry, but would like to know how much other riders weigh who have experienced this... | ||

"Call me what you want" How about "Midknyte"?  I come from a dirt bike background so I tend to look for sturdier footpegs. Not that I'm going to bunnyhop the M2 or anything.  | ||

I'm no expert but I wonder if the heat process for the powder coating caused them to turn brittle? Just wondering any experts out there? | ||

i have oberon pegs,but the slightly longer "touring" versions in the photo with the three types of pegs above....nearly the same size as the standard buell items and have had no grip problems with these,had the smaller studded types on a speedtriple before and did encounter some foot off the peg moments....these though are fine and reasonably priced | ||

The Satos are sweet. I want them but $600 is a little pricey. I guess it's only money! I was looking at the American Sport Bike round race style pegs for my CityX. My Aerostich Combat Touring boots don't stick to the stockers the way I would like them to. Good to hear from you Chris! | ||

Hey Ej... I've been down for the count for a week and half with the flu from hell... I like the Woodcraft's but the Sato's really clicked with me once I saw them on Al's blacked out Lightning...had to have 'em. Easy install, great product, great service... /Ch | ||

My right side driver peg also broke, looks just like your broken peg. I lost my footing on an angled road and had to lay the bike down. Keep in mind I was standing still in a parking space. I did not drop the bike but literally laid it down on its side just as you would lay an infant down in its bed. The peg snapped. I notice the metal is very porous. I guess that was one way to save weight at the price of quality. So, I’m also looking for pegs. |
