Anyone know of a dealer in the Philadelphia area that rents a 9 or 12 XBS? Some guys from my church are planning to rent Harleys for a day this summer, but I would much rather ride a Buell. There are two dealers that are pretty close to my house (one of which is where the group is planning to rent from), but neither carry Buells anymore. Anywhere in the PA / NJ / DE area will work, but obviously, I'd like to keep it as close to Delaware County as possible... Thanks, Jeremy |

Schaeffer's HD/Buell in Orwigsburg, PA, which is near Reading. A little bit of a drive, but well worth it. Your looking at about $120 with insurance for the weekend for the 2005 XB9SX. You pick it up Saturday morning. Needs to be back by Sunday evening. Great dealership. |

Thanks for the heads up. It is a bit of a drive, but I'm thinking I can head up Friday night so I already have it for a Saturday ride. Yahoo Maps says 86 miles, but a bit over 2 hours! I'm hoping it dosen't take quite that long. Any other thoughts on a dealer close to Philly that will rent out an XBS? |

I'll second Schaeffer's. Well worth the trip. Heck, it's right up the road from Cabellas. As far as I'm concerned, that's the trip right there. Seriously, Schaeffer's is about the best rental outfit going, some really good roads up there to ride on, too. It's a straight shot up the Blue Route / NE Extension into Allentown, then about another 15-20 minutes west on 78. |

Hey Tom, Do you have decent directions for your route? Yahoo has me going out 422, but the NE Ext sounds alot quicker. I live just a few minutes off the RT 1 exit of the Blue Route. Since I'm riding with a group, I can't hang around there, but hopefully we'll get into some nice roads in SouthEastern PA. Thanks for the info so far! |

Yeah, forget that. 422 is a mess going through Reading and whatnot. If you do go that way, from like the Drexel Hill area, you can take the Blue Route up to the Schuylkill, and in King Of Prussia jump on 30W to 422N. In Reading, get on 222, and then 61 North will take you right to the dealership. That is actually the fast way, provided you don't hit traffic, construction, get lost, etc. Or, just take the Blue Route / NE Extension up to 78W in Allentown, then take the 61N exit to the dealership. You can't miss the exit - look for the Cracker Barrel and Cabella's. If you're planning on heading up Friday evening, the Blue Route south of the Turnpike is going to kill you, you know how much of a mess that can be. Otherwise, if you're going up Saturday morning you're talking about not even two hours, closer to 1:45 or so... Going up through Allentown is much easier, more of a sure thing. |

How about Columbus Ohio area rentals? I live in Florida and I will be visiting my buddy in Columbus who rides a sportbike, it would be nice to ride a couple of days while I am there. Also, any Orlando Florida area rentals? I am seriously thinking of getting a XB12S, but I want to ride one for a full day before I sell the 2003 Yamaha R1. I have test driven a xb12s twice (and REALLY loved it!), but only for a few miles each time, not enough to really see how the bike would 'hang' with my buddies on the back roads. |
