Bad week for buying buells for me.Just when I thought I was gonna catch Buelliedan I took a 1-2 punch.The last one was easily forgiven.I had agreed to purchase Kevin Lacostelo's S-2T after he had his accident.We all tried to talk him out of it but he felt he had to.So he went to take the bike to get ready for shipping--and could not go through with it.I was disappointed,but totally understood. The other was,to me,anyway,a different deal.I saw the ad for the 1997 S-1 in Phoenix that 97s1 posted in the classified section.I called within 24 hours and told him I wanted the bike,I had cash in hand.He said he had a couple of possible offers/trades,and I told him I would stay in touch.I called several days later and asked if bike was still available,answer was yes.I wanted to know if he was coming to LA soon as I would just drive down and pick up bike.He thought not,so I said I would get details regarding shipping.I tried to call several times to talk to 97s1 and his phone was not in service????So I emailed him and posted here in the ad to try and contact.He answered my e-mail asking if I had shipping arrangements worked out and his phone would be back in service that evening.I talked to Al Lighton and he agreed to pick up bike and bring to my house when he comes up for the superbike races in May.I emailed back that arrangements were in place and where do I send check.And then late in the day,I get an email saying sorry I sold to a local guy.There was no mention of this possibility any of the times we talked of shipping arrangements,etc,I may have been willing to offer more,but never had a chance.And I was talking to Jsunstar about the bike the whole time as he had been interested also,but agreed to give me first shot.Seems he had been told a similar story to mine. So,am I being out of line,and if there are details I am unaware of,fill me in. I was going to let this all go,but after talking with Jason, and getting bonked twice in 2 days I had to vent. | ||

Ouch, I know that feeling, last summer I ran across a guy selling a pickup same as mine but real beat up, he wanted £3000 for it which was ridiculous & I ended up offering him 2 which I thought was generous, but it had a nice set of wheels & a spare screen (mines cracked) also king pins had been done so I thought it was a reasonable deal, he said he'd think about it, I said no rush, if he could get more take it, if not call me. I called back a couple of times to be told he still had it but hadn't decided, then last time I called to ask if he'd consider selling me the spare screen alone he told me he'd sold it. I asked how much, yeah you guessed, it went for 2. I can't yell at the guy, one of his buds is a friend of mine also. It's dam frustrating but what can you do? it's a free market. It just wasn't meant to be...Who knows maybe a smoking deal is right around the corner. I had the same thing happen when I was looking for a Classic Bronco. I think I looked at 10 of them and they all fell thru but after all that I found the one I wanted for the exact price I wanted........Good things come to those who wait.  | ||

Jim, that was why I felt I had let you down about the engine after my wreck. To me I made a commitment to you with regards to the purchase from my end and from the way others spoke with regards to dealings with you, I felt the same in return. | ||

Deepest apologies to Jim, my bad. I was hurting from seeing my S2 all bashed up and feeling pressed with other issues...when I started getting the bike ready for shipping it was embarassingly painful and draining. And then when I rode the bike to the dealers for pick-up I realized that the S2 was as close to me as the ol' Sporty. Neither can be replaced---well, they could both be 'replaced' but once they're gone, finding another would be an ordeal. I 'feel' like I know this S2. I just really like to feel those heavy flywheels churning away, pulling the bike along at an easy pace, never rushed but ready to wake-up and roll with a twist of the wrist. The ergonomics are just right for me and it's by far the most comfortable bike I've ever had the pleasure to ride, in the city and especially on the open roads and particularly at a good clip out in the hills. The S2T is like an old friend, and I just couldn't let it go. I'm sorry Jim. I'll make it up to you somehow. For now, it'll go back in the garage and under wraps until I get some time to start taking it apart. The worst visible damage is the front fairing. Once I get it off the bike, I can make a decision about fixing the fiberglass or getting a new or used one. Somehow, I feel honored to have an opportunity to repair this bike and restore it to it's original luster. Since I'm the one who crashed it, it just seems fitting that I fix it. In all the years I've been in the BadWeB house Jim I don't think I can ever recall a time when you've ever put a hair out of place, never mind vented. If anyone deserves to vent it surely must be you. Tell you what Jim, if I were in the market for an S1 again, and nope I'm not I already got the best one in existence, I'd go for the original pearl S1WL and fit a few choice performance goodies. That in my book is worth waiting for and would ease my pain if I were in your shoes right now. Good things come to those who deserve them so happy hunting mate whatever you decide to go for. Sean,thanks for the kind words.Hope all is well in your neck of the woods. Sure glad I didn't sell my Triumph.And I feel a little better as I got a great deal on a nice enclosed trailer to haul bikes with. | ||

Oh man you shouldn't have mentioned Triumph's Jim. I've trawled MCN UK's website all week but they ain't playing. This week MCN showed a pic or two of the Hayabusa beating 200+ mph Trumpet they decided not to put in production last October. Triumph back then were frightened off it says because there were fears of a government backlash, manufacturers voluntarily capping their HP limits etc, so Triumph despite having two fully up and running production prototypes shelved the project thinking they'd lose out financially through lack of sales. Now of course we've got Honda bringing their V5 moto GP bike to production and Ducati likewise with their Desmocedici GP bike. Triumph are apparently kicking themselves. Back to the pic in MCN. Wish I could show you it here because it makes the Busa look positively ancient. My bet is looking at those pic's and knowing what power and performance their Rocket III is making I'd have to assume their claims of easily exceeding 200mph were founded on hard earned data. I'll keep an eye open for those pic's turning up on the net. Rocket | ||
